croissants and bread exceptional and the ginger jam...although not made by hostess...a real treat to have the pool...on arrival. dinner very disappointing and over priced for what we were served....unfortunately we found a black hair in egg mimosa......very off putting and a similar hair found on a white towel in the bathroom...(M et Madame were greyhaired) wonderful customer service...charming hosts

Despite the lovely location as guests we felt we were just a necessary inconvenience.

The host was the owners daughter who had not done it before and was clearly not given any advice, but lots of the following was not simply due to that. Complementary drinks were an empty jar of coffee and lots of camomile tea if you like it - we don’t, and one cube of sugar. Couldn’t lock the room door from the outside and there was no safe. I didn’t realize there was one, but I found the tiny tv screen and video player hidden in a wardrobe on the last day and in any case would not have wanted to try to work out how to make it work. Very small shampoos and tiny soaps - felt like the cheapest choices. Breakfast was a single croissant and french bread and we had to ask for jam. Even as a continental breakfast this was really basic. Coffee cups on first and last days but bowls for the others - she was surprised when we asked for cups. - it seemed inconvenient to her! One day two breakfast places were set and there were three of us. All the kind of things I would expect from a two star cheap gite, not something described as 5 stars and at the price. The area is known for hunting which we don’t agree with, so not surprised there was a mounted boar and deer head in the hall, but we were sickened to see three huge elephant tusks and a gruesome zebra rug, complete with bullethole. We are not Muslim, but the owner is very anti Muslim and when I told him I was half Scottish, said that now Scotland has a Muslim PM it will become a Shara state! I got the sense that we should feel ourselves lucky that we were allowed to stay there. The only plus apart from the spotless pool was that were delayed, and the owner kindly stayed up late to show us to our room.

Beautiful location close to where we were having our event, outdoor heated swimming pool.
