Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCobbled approach was impossible for wheelie cases. No local vehicle access so a 250m drag of luggage over cobbled streets and badly cobbled courtyard. Not for the aged or unfit
Large and spacious. Quiet location

United StatesWe were disrupted by the seagulls noise every night. I realize that the hotel has no control over that.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic the one morning we had it. Everyone seem to arrive for breakfast at the same time.

United StatesThere were no downsides.
We had a nice-sized double room on the second floor. The corner location allowed an excellent view down two streets in historic Dinan and plenty of ventilation. We had plenty of room for luggage and a nice small table. The shower/bath combination was very nice. Parking was immediately adjacent to the hotel.

United KingdomAccess to the buiding was dark with steep stairs to climb. Not practical when carrying lots of luggage. Parking at hotel should not be charged at 10 Euros, especially when gou can't park in the street due to market set up on a Thursday.
Location was excellent, very central to shops etc. Breakfast brkught to room was nice.

United KingdomA little better choice for breakfast would not be amiss although, as I said above, it was sufficient.
An excellent location in the old town ideal for exploring the town and area. On market days (Thursday) access in the morning is difficult by car. Although on site parking is tight (and you need to pre-book it) it was ideal as the nearest parking is blocked on Thursday for the weekly market. Our room faced onto the main street (south facing) which meant that it was light and airy. The only downside was the diverted traffic due to roadworks closing the route from the north side of the area into the town which passed under our window. We were lucky to be on the 2nd floor. The room had tea + coffee making and every day they provided bottled water. Breakfast consisted of bread + croissant for each traveller on the table with some meat and cheeses, eggs to boil and jams. A fair choice. Tea and coffee from a machine. It was sufficient. We ate out every evening at nearby restaurants, the first opposite the entrance to the main car park, the 2nd down by the main square and the 3rd at the eastern end of the market. Pre-booking is best as they quickly fill up. Outside of the hotel is a small square where we had a morning coffee (they also do lunches etc., and we also had PM drinks). This is the 3rd time in 20 years that we have stayed in this hotel and would come again.

United StatesThe bathroom is surprisingly small for such a huge apartment.
We rented the Epicerie apartment. It was very large and roomy. It would be perfect for a multi day stay. It is perfectly located in the middle of town by the clock tower a few hundred feet away from the main hotel. We had a car and there was no problem driving in Dinan. The hotel has parking too if you reserve. We did not but they got us a parking garage a little further away.

United StatesWe stayed in the apartment which is down the street from the hotel. We overpacked so it was a bit cumbersome for us to drag all of our bags down there, along with no lift (our own fault- just be aware if you do the same as us). Room was large and had a nice small kitchen with electric tea kettle for us to have coffee in our room (not provided). We chose to have breakfast at the main hotel area and it was just okay - very crowded and minimal offering. Over all though this is an amazing property that has very kind and helpful staff.

CanadaStarting @ 5am, there was a stream of vehicles roaring past our window - we were on street level. Very noisy and interrupted our sleep.
Mattress was comfortable, on the firm side, which I like. Good bathroom/shower. A parking place was provided right next to the hotel, and helpful staff greeted us, and helped us park.

United KingdomThe bed was a little hard but this seems to be quite common in France, some comfier chairs around the table would have been welcome also. The bathroom door also opened directly onto the toilet so the bathroom layout could be improved but it is an old building.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location right in the centre of Dinan was great. The breakfast was fine. The room was very basic but clean, we did ask if there were any upgrades available for which we were happy to pay more but the hotel was full. Dinan was one of our favourite towns of our whole 3 week trip.
