Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe double bed was located on a mezzanine platform. It was lovely... But access was via a vertical ladder with a pole for support, and it is not ideal for anyone who needs to get up during the night to go to the loo - or for elderly people. The benefit of the apartment being located on the ground floor of the building was negated by the fact that the bed access required agility and stability. Otherwise, very comfortable.
Beautiful apartment. Not at 21 Royale - but located on Quai André Lassange. Right beside the river. Stylish. Very handy for the areas a tourist would most want to visit. Very close to Opera House and Hotel de Ville and Museum of Beax Arts. Round the corner from the Metro to connect to The Rhone Express to get to airport. Easy. Handy for the arty "silk workers" area. Easy access to main shopping street leading to the old town. Very well equipped apartment. Extremely quiet within a courtyard. Most enjoyable stay. Very comfy bed and good quality bedding.

United KingdomThere wasn't a key for the bins so we just had to leave our rubbish in the flat but we were only there for one night so it wasn't too bad.

United KingdomThe bathroom was off the main bedroom (although the separate toilet was off the living space) which makes the apartment ideal for families - we were travelling with our student daughter - but would be perhaps more difficult for others. Some of the furnishings a bit tired - the apartment has obviously been well used but this didn't detract too much from the over all charm.
The location was brilliant, very close to the metro to go up Croix-Rousse and 7 minutes walk from Hotel de Ville metro station and connections to the Rhone Express. Vieux Lyon and Croix Rousse all in walking distance. Close to the river. Small but perfectly formed apartment in lovely historical building with very high ceilings and original features - ideal for a family.

United StatesBeing on the ground floor is a little awkward with people on the street just outside but the windows were barred so it felt safe and you’re right across from the river!

United KingdomA few very minor quibbles - the washing up sink seemed to have no plug, and a few more tea bags and a cafetière would have been nice. And the frying pan needed replacing as no handle and damaged non-stick surface. Otherwise all was very lovely indeed!
Really stylish apartment with a lovely mix of period features and modern kitchen and bathroom. The location is superb too, minutes from great restaurants and the river, but also very quiet at night. I also found it helpful being so close to a secure underground carpark, albeit very expensive. Would recommend 😊

United KingdomIt was frustrating that I had to chase the information regarding keys or entry codes the day before my visit. The apartment is quite well equipped, but could do with a few glasses for soft drinks or wine.
This apartment is very well located, with the city centre right on the doorstep. It is on the third floor, but I was aware of this, so the climb of 93 steps didn’t bother me!

United KingdomI speak fluent French, but it took me numerous emails and phone calls to get the property address and door codes. I only received the codes and address on the morning we arrived in France. This needs to improve. Pans did not easily work on the induction hob. Could do with being changed.
Location is excellent next to Rhone - 2 mins from Hotel de Ville. Although it is not 21 Rue Royale as advertised. Apartment is good size and clean.

UkraineThough there is a dishwasher and a washing machine, there were neither dishwasher tablets or laundry products. If you open the windows it's extremely loud outside, but that's the cost of living in the middle of everything.
The location is excellent if you want to enjoy the historic areas. The apartment is nice and cozy, there are huge french windows with a view at the river.

United KingdomIt was a bit of a faff getting the door code as the owner wouldn't give it until we had done some complicated (to me) extra insurance thingy via booking.com, which incidentally asked for photos of the flay (catch 22!) This was hard to do from Paris on phone and I wish booking.com had asked for it straight away at booking time in the interests both of convenience and transparency - not quite sure why some properties have it and others don't. Also it made us feel a bit paranoid and unrelaxed about taking full advantage the flat's amenities
