Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe only thing we didn't love was the restaurant. The food was very good but too expensive. Also, since the nearest café or supermarket is in Muonio (30km away), we were hoping we could buy something small for lunch to take with us to go hiking, but the options were very limited and not that good. So it would have been better to buy some snacks in advance for our hikes before arriving at the hotel.
The absolute best thing is the location: the trails (Taivaskeron kierros and Palkaskeron kierros) start exactly from the hotel's car park. Also the hotel is surrounded by reindeer, it was amazing looking at them and taking pictures every time we went inside or outside of the hotel :) The room was very clean and spacious and had a great view. Breakfast was also very good, typically Finnish with many different options (you even get to make waffles!).

FinlandThe breakfast was simply amazing (including but by no means limited to the background music!). The location by the hiking trails was really covenient. I also liked the peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. In contrast to some other travelers, from a sustainability point of view, I appreciated the fact that the rooms are a bit “old-fashioned” and not everything is shiny and new - yet everything was perfectly clean. Overall, a really nice stopover after a Hetta-Palas hike.

FinlandOur room was next to one of the hallway doors and the opening/closing of it resonated a bit through the walls. Nothing terrible, and I had a good night of sleep but if you're sensitive for it, maybe ask for a room more in the middle of the hallway. This could also simply be fixed by the hotel if they would adjust the door stoppers.
Room was simple, efficient, nice, clean and basically all you need for an overnight stay. The views on the fjell were amazing and reindeer were scattered around the hotel so the Lapland experience is definitely complete. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great with plenty to choose from with local and international tastes. Plus points for the waffle machine.

FranceThe hotel is situated in the national park and gives good access to hiking trails (or skiing depending the season). The staff was very welcoming, and the restaurant was excellent. We had a very good evening meal with lots of local options, and the choice at the breakfast buffet (included in our stay) was excellent, again with lots of local content.

Excellent location at the end of the Hetta-Pallas trek, very good breakfast, excellent food in the restaurant, sauna is hot (usually in hotels it is not hot enough), the staff is helpful, direct bus service from Kolari railway station (limited times), food truck outside

FinlandBreakfast was outstanding. There was a large selection of different options available. Room was very simple but it was adequate for someone who is visiting Pallas for outdoor activities. The hotel sauna is also very good in my opinion. Nice way to relax after each day of hiking.

United StatesThe rooms were really simple and the shower was in the hallway
The hotel's location is truly tremendous and offers breathtaking views far (the mountains and forests of Pallast Yllästunturi NP) and near (reindeer chilling out front on the street) The adjoined restaurant offers amazing food from Lapland (try the pike or the reindeer tongue) and, accordingly, the hotel's breakfast buffet was by far the finest we enjoyed in finland (favorite: spruce smoothie) In general, the hotel has a 50s vibe but in a good way! If you want to roam the NP or even start or end the multi-day hike from Hetta to Pallas, this hotel offers the perfect start and even better ending point !

Lovely authentic hotel, tucked out of the way, we think they were suprised that 2 aussies came to stay. Rooms were small but cosy, shared bathrooms down the hall. Loved the breakfasts and all the choices. We even found a swimming hole to plunge into after skiing for the day. Sauna was being rebuilt, so we had to do it tough :-)
