To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

FinlandWe liked everything about it! The owner kindly arranged us an urgent check in one day before the arrival date because of our previous hotel failed to accommodate us due to their own mistakes. They prepared everything possible beforehand so that we didn't need anything extra during our stay, and the location was just perfect, water was clear and shallow, perfect for swimming and all other water activities. Suitable for all season use with floor heating and air-conditioner. The owner also brought us a gas heater just to make sure the house warms up faster!

Czech RepublicThe lake view from the living room and from the garden is like a dream. Usually one gets nice photos and the reality is then worse, here it is the other way around as no photo can actually capture the vibe in full, you have to experience it. In the house itself there is a fully equipped kitchen, 5 comfortable beds and at least as much comfortable sofa. The house is top clean and in a very quite location but still easily reachable. But by far the most I appreciate the owners - who despite the fact they were far away on holiday - they were very responsive, managed to welcome us warmly, and with help of their friends quickly trouble-shoot small issue we got on-site with the central heating. I always say that the quality of a service only shows up the moment when something goes wrong and here I clearly give 5 stars out of 5. Many thanks for a great holiday!

PolandYou rent only a part of the house and in the other part is for the owners - but it is separated (different entrance for each) and they did not disrub us at all, so its not a big problem. There is only one bathroom and it is quite small.
The house is very big and felt really homey, the kitchen very well eqquipped, beds arecomfortable, it was very clean. The backyard is amazing - private access to the lake. We loved the sauna - the owners left us prepared wood for the sauna and grill so it was possible to use it as much as we wanted. Not a lot to do in the niegbourhood during winter, but the house is so nice that you can just enjoy it for a few days :)
