Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAbsolutely loved this place. It was un expectantly lovely. Had a long walk and we were delighted when we had arrived. The staff in the dining room were excellent. The masseuse was also excellent. The food was totally delicious. We couldn’t complain about anything. We would certainly recommend. They gave us a lift into Arzua the following morning where we joined the Camino again. Top class place.

OMG...what didn't I like about Pazo Santa Maria. This hidden gem is absolutely OUTSTANDING in every way. I consider myself a pampered pilgrim and only stay at stunning places. Pazo Santa Maria just stole my heart. It's so peaceful, so sophisticated, so elegant. Old world charm at it's finest. Everything was beyond perfection! I would love to go back!!!

ItalyThe check-out. On Booking, the time of check out is between 7am to 12... But the lady in charge of the breakfast asked us to go at 10am. Not a drama, we are on holiday, but it was like: you had 2 days here, now please go, we have to prepare for the new arrivals. Not a very nice way to treat guests.
We liked almost everything. Check-in perfect. The lady at the restaurant, fantastic. Food very good. Breakfast as well. Location, peaceful, with a beautiful view.

United StatesThe room smelled strongly and of damp, maybe mold? But opened windows etc helped.
Absolutely stunning location, felt like I was in the Garden of Eden. Like out of a dream. Recently restored from a state of historic ruin, the place is beautifully restored and you can feel the lush history and charm. Highly recommended as a must stay here!!

United StatesThe one tiny little issue was with the lights, they are motion sensitive, which is fine, saves energy. But when you are trying to sit and play a game of chess, it is a little funny to have to keep waving your arms every minute to bring the lights back. Super tiny issue. Not even an issue. More funny than an issue.
The building is beautiful! The grounds are lovely. The swans are a very nice touch! It was like staying in a castle. The lunch and dinner and breakfast were all in a beautiful and tranquil setting. So very civilized and calm. Our waiter was helpful and the woman who runs the place was happy and helpful. The bedroom was comfortable and elegant yet simple and showcased the beautiful stone and woodwork of the building. There is a book in the lobby that shows the restoration of the place and it is amazing to see what the place used to look like.

This is a wonderful old manor house (Pazo) and outbuildings which have been converted into a beautiful and comfortable hotel. It was highly recommended to me by a friend - I was walking the Camino de Santiago with my son - and it still exceeded my expectations. The welcome is friendly and attentive and the service excellent. The rooms and the whole place generally are beautiful. The food in the restaurant is absolutely exceptional and the wine list outstanding. The breakfast is similarly exceptional. The Pazo is located about a kilometre from Arzua, and the Camino del Norte passes within a few metres of it as to heads towards the joinup point in the town with the Camino Frances. This place is more than worth the little detour even at the end of a long walking day and the kindly owner dropped us in the town the next morning to resume our walk.

United KingdomThe only critique I have that the rooms are not very soundproofed. You hear every toilet flush from your next door neighbour and every sound they make.
This place is world class. It has a mixture of a rustic and Provence style decor. It is kept immaculate including the rooms. The food is superb and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were travelling with two dogs, which are best to be kept in thread because of the swans they keep in the grounds.

South AfricaWe arrived at 1pm and there was no one available until 2pm, so it was time wasted. The bathroom in our room was a bit dated.
Breakfast and supper was great albeit on the expensive side. The hosts were brilliant and upgraded us to a superior double room without any extra charge. The property is spacious with lovely gardens. We liked that it was on the outer edge of town and much quieter than hotels in the city.
