Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe property didn’t really communicate with us even when we were having issues with the check-in time. I had to call them multiple times before the flights to be sure someone would be there to let us in. The room was smelling a bit of closed/dust.
Central location and good sized room with small kitchen and fridge. The shower was ok but a bit small.

United KingdomThe room could have been advertised more accurately. We didnt know if there was wifi or not as it hadn't been advertised in the building. The front door lock was sometimes difficult to undo.
Staff were very friendly, great location and great value for money. The room was basic with the amenities that you need available (en-suite). The location was perfect for us, with some great bars and shops close by.

Slovenia-The cold; We understand that most of the year it is warm and in the summer hot, but unfortunately we visited at probably the coldest time of the year and spent all the time in the room freezing and wearing all our clothes at once. The helpful lady gave as a blanket, but this helped only when sleeping, we would really have appreciated a small electric heater (since there is no ac with a potential heating mode) but unfortunately they could not get us one. -The noise; for someone sensitive to noise, this might not be a place to stay, since the walls are extremely thin. We could hear the activities in the room across from ours and also every guest checking in at the reception perfectly. -The balcony; Our booking confirmation said the room has a balcony. The room we were shown to did not.
We actually really enjoyed the fun and colourful decoration in the room and in the accommodation all together:)

United KingdomThe location may have been relatively close to the historic centre of Malaga, but the neighbourhood was insalubrious to say the least - I avoided going out after dark, even though it may have been perfectly safe to do so. The lack of a kettle in the room, as commonly experienced elsewhere, was a definite minus point.
The room was clean and sizeable. It contained a sink but no other facilities - they were nearby down the corridor. There was a ceiling fan, vital when the temperature was around 30C. There wasn’t much noise at night, contrary to what I had been fearing. Overall it was better than many similar hostels I have stayed at over the years.

SpainThe floors were dirty, the decorations were outdated. There were half used open body gel and shampoo. The windows had spiderwebs and there was a broken light in the bathroom, not to mention that there was no way to lock yourself in or lock your belongings in.
The location and the bed wasn’t uncomfortable.

BelgiumThe toilet and bathroom was dirty. I request clean towels because the one inside of the room was dirty. And I receive again dirty ones. There was no bin for trash. The reception open probably after 12 because I wanted to leave my bag there when check out and there was no one. And you could hear clearly everything that happen on the rooms next.
I got a double bed instead of single I request, so It was nice.

United KingdomThe walls are too thin, I could hear the people upstairs waking up every morning. Also the door to my room kept opening every time someone went out and there was no option to lock it so I had to put a chair to keep it closed during the night . Very old furniture.
Approximately good location. Clean sheets and linen, good beds

United Kingdomthe decor was awful! miss-matched colours/patterns, everything looked very old, outdated - like 1970s! It was also very dark inside. My room had a window but out into a courtyard so had no natural daylight coming in Also it was very noisy in the evenings, the walls were like paper!
pretty good location just outside of centre, more authentic/local area. Friendly staff :)

United KingdomThe place has that smell, as you walk in. You know the one. The smell of a cheap backstreet motel. My room was okay, the bathroom was cramped and comical, and the cupboard space was minimal but sufficient.
You've got a private room (if you want one). You've got a private bathroom (if you want one). You've got a bed. You've got the internet. You're only 15 or 20 minutes' walk from the centre and the cathedral and all the lovely stuff. You get what you pay for. This is cheap, so you get cheap. But it'll do.
