Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe check-in was messy. I was given a wrong address. I was travelling with a child and arrived precisely at check-in time, but nobody was there. Then I got a phone call from, apparently, the lady that was supposed to hand over the key. I did not understand a word. When I said: “I don’t understand Spanish, can you speak English”, she hung up on my face. We proceeded on WhatsApp, she told me that the meeting point is somewhere else. I’m thinking: “Why didn’t you tell me this a day before or even a few hours before?” She also sent me some photos and a video explanation of how to get there (again in Spanish). At this point I still didn’t receive an exact address, but she eventually sent her live location (and it wasn’t far away luckily). At the meeting point, my experience with her was not pleasant at all. Not welcoming, no compassion, just plain rude. When I asked her name, she refused to give it. At that point I got upset. She led us to our room & started explaining things in Spanish in not-a-friendly tone. I told her, for the 5th time, that I don’t understand her. She could have used Google translate, but she did not care. Even my child asked why that lady was so unkind. Eventually I told her to just give me the keys and I’ll figure it out myself. Tips for the property: - Give the correct address at least a day before check-in - Hire people for the key-handover that at least speak a little English and have a friendly attitude - If you sent video explanations about check-in, have an English version too
Location was great! The walls inside the building are extremely thin though, so you do hear everything. Luckily we only stayed for one night.

NetherlandsYou can hear everything from every room here. The walls are super thin and all the doors don’t close properly so everyone is constantly needing to slam the doors (front door, bathroom door, every room door it seemed). Our light in our room was controlled by a remote in the room next to us so they could turn ours on and off which was really annoying. There was glass at the top of a wall between our room and the next one, and they had their light on until 3am which meant we had a lot of light in ours. The place smelled sickly sweet from all the air fresheners, at least it wasn’t a gross smell but it was a bit suffocating and makes we wonder if they are trying to cover up another smell. The balcony wasn’t really accessible to go out onto but it was nice to open the door for fresh air. However the street is super noisy below until 1am, but we couldn’t hear much with the balcony door closed so that was good. Neither of us slept well becuase of the noise and light. It wasn’t hot in Madrid when we stayed but seeing as there’s no air con I can imagine they get hot.
This was the cheapest place we could find in Madrid with private rooms, and it was still so expensive for what it’s worth. Wikensonne did a great job meeting us with the keys and showing us around.

SpainThe fact that there were no windows was a disadvantage even in the bathroom there were no windows. And the air conditioning was very bad.
The location of the hotel was good, it was close to the center of Madrid. Wikensonne who welcomed us was very nice.

TurkeyOnly two or four rooms at the floor have windows. The rest does not have any windows. Our room didn't have a room either. Thus, the room was very hot and overwhelming. Also, near 20 rooms shared only 1 toilet and 1 shower.
I enjoyed the location very much, and that was the reason why I chosed the facility. Also, I liked that there was a WIFI connection too.

Spainthe room my partner and i had was smaller than anything i’ve ever seen, with a bunk bed and a ceiling fan. it had NO windows and with the summer weather in Madrid the space is suffocating for two people. both nights we slept there were uncomfortable because of the heat. you can clearly see that the room we were in does not look like the pictures, would have loved to know that beforehand.
the location is amazing, just a step away from gran vía

Costa RicaThe place is fine but it is very basic. Dont have staff, just someone that will wait for you to show you the room. Other than that, there is no one at the hotel. Room was basic but ok. Shower was Ok. They should have some kind of little sitting area, maybe a coffee maker, glases or plates.

PortugalThe window in our room was broken and we couldn't manage to close it, which is bad both for being dangerous and because it makes the room colder than it should be... we immediately asked the staff to solve the problem but until the end of our stay no one was able to fix it, even though they said there was someone coming in the morning and that, if not, they would change us to another room... Also, when booking we chose the option with a private bathroom and when we arrived we realised the bathrooms had no shower so that we had to share it with other guests, it's not that problematic but the hostel shouldn't advertise for rooms with private bathrooms without fully describing the conditions offered
Super central and very well located

SpainThis place has no reception lobby. What means that you have to contact the hostal to get the keys. They ask you to be on time but they arrive 30mins late. Also the comunation was confusing. The photos of the place are a trap. Most of the rooms have no windows and they are very small.
The only good thing is that the place was clean and the location is convenient.

The location was really good, the room was decent size for the price.

United StatesThe room was not a spacious windowed apartment, but a nearly windowless room with a hidden toilet area. The only window was in this toilet. The shared area got loud although our attendant did her best to keep the other tenants in control.
The location was central and everything is nearby. The staff was accommodating and was there to answer any questions or provide you with assistance.

Czech RepublicEntrance instructions were not clear so I called the staff and they told me to read it again. Absolutely zero effort to solve the problem. In the Instructions there was written that the room is at the second floor. Eventually it was a floor number 1. It was hard to find out because the door at the floor unlock after you make a phone call to an app and I had no reception in the building so I couldn't try all floors while being in the building. Luckily I was not alone so my friends stayed in front of the door at floor number 1 and I went back down to the street and made a call. Then the door opened. If I was alone, I have no idea how I would unlock it. Check in after 20:00 is for extra 20€ (I think, might be a different amount), however there is no personnel so I have no idea what they charge for. Rooms are fine for 1-2 night oversleep. We had no windows and it felt a little bit claustrophobic. Walls are thin, be ready for that. But as I said, 1-2nights for this price is OK. To sum up, customer service terrible. Value for the price is OK. Don't have high expectations.
