Although clean, our room felt a little tired and dated (some of the fixtures could do with a freshen-up). We were also initially a little disappointed that our room did not look out over the street (but instead a dim back corridor), but after a while, that didn't bother us as our room was quiet (and after reading other reviews about street noise, maybe it worked out for the best).

We enjoyed our stay at Barcelona Hotel Colonial. We thought the location was perfect - right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, but also only a stone's throw from Port Vell and the beach. The room itself was clean, quiet, comfortable and a good size.

We were initially given an already occupied room which was a little awkward but resolved quickly. The included breakfast was decent. The parking is actually offsite about 5 mins away, and while secure, having to go back and forth with the garage key added some inconvenience.

The room was surprisingly very quiet and had a balcony. The shower was great and water was hot. The room seemed pretty dated and the bedding wasn’t super comfortable but the AC worked really well and the 24hr desk made me feel very safe. The staff spoke excellent English and were helpful. The location is walkable to many places and extremely convenient.

There was no separate shampoo and conditioner.

The property was clean and the staff were friendly. The lady in the restaurant at breakfast was always very friendly and her singing always put us in a good mood in the morning. It was located in the centre which had good connections to the metro, beach and authentic restaurants.

Lights off in lobby by 10:30, even though bar encouraged us to take last call to lobby. Staff literally turned off lights in lobby while we were enjoying our last call drink at 11pm on a Friday and Saturday night. Shushed several times before midnight on a weekend by lobby staff. Liked accommodations but did not feel welcome.

Location close to metro which allows very good movement. We went to tour the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, cruise on the Seine, walking tour which was Excellent. Classy hotel, area around safe with cafes and easy to stroll and enjoy the City of Love. Found receptionist CD's use of English very good and he was most helpful. Staff generally pleasant.

The location of the room within the hotel was not great. Our balcony looked out onto a concrete wall about 4 metres away. I would also have liked a smart TV, one that I can program with my Netflix or Amazon account The room facilities included a kettle with no tea, coffee, milk or sugar

The bathroom smelled of damp and the sink didn't drain well, but this was taken care of promptly once we brought it to the staff's attention. Our room was on the ground floor and there was not good sound insulation - we could hear noisy guests going in and out of the elevators all through the night. For a four-star hotel, we were surprised that the room was only stocked with water and basic shampoo/body wash. No coffee and/or creamer, and no body/hand cream or conditioner were provided.

The air conditioning was very effective, the communal areas and the room were clean and well-decorated, and the staff were professional, helpful, and friendly.

The windows let through a lot of sound from the streets below. Every night we could hear a lot of yelling and glass(?) being thrown into the big bins on the streets.

We stayed in a standard double room which was spacious and clean. I saw reviews saying the rooms were small but this was one of the biggest rooms I’ve stayed in compared to other hotels across other cities. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and let us check in early.
