Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaReally pretty hotel, I loved the decor, the peace and quiet and the proximity to the thermal baths. Staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, breakfasts were large and tasty, bed was super comfortable and shower had hot water and good pressure. Being able to book activities through reception was great as it didn't cost any extra, I avoided the hustle of the tour offices in town, and they included pickup from the hotel.

United StatesA few minor things. The rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. No elevator. Narrow stairways, but the owner carried my bag up to my room for me. The wood floors creaked loudly in the rooms and hallways. The Wi-Fi worked great when I was alone in the hotel; otherwise, it was sometimes spotty. No heater or A/C, but they're really not needed in Baños. The room was a little stuffy if the windows were kept closed.
This is a charming hotel near the Cascada de Virgin. Fantastic value for a humble room in a colorful, artsy hotel with a cozy, yet sophisticated ambience. Warm tones and lighting inside and outside. The lobby features a sitting area with a fireplace. Another sitting area was outside in the garden. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a single room on the 2nd floor facing the waterfall. I could hear its soothing cascades even when the windows were closed. At night, I left the drapes open so that I could see the colors change with the lighting. In the early mornings, the closed drapes blocked the light well. During the day, I pinned back the drapes and opened the windows for some fresh air. My room had a small balcony with a comfortable hammock. The free breakfast was very good. Juice, coffee, omelette or scrambled eggs or pancakes, fresh warm breads and cheese. No mini fridge in the room, but the restaurant was open all day. Guests could add snacks and meals to the hotel bill and pay at checkout. Parking was available on the street. Quiet and safe street & neighborhood. A few blocks' walk to the church, restaurants, and bars. I enjoyed it here so much, I changed my plans and stayed an extra day!

United StatesWhat's not to like about a place this special and unique?
Every aspect of this place is incredible! It is located in a quieter corner of town right below the prominent waterfall and next to the hot baths. A wonderful international couple runs the place, and they are very friendly. The art throughout the building and grounds make it an extraordinary experience. Do not miss the rooftop terrace. Wonderful breakfast options. Also, something uncommon and Ecuador- wonderful pillows! Close walking distance to countless restaurants.

AustraliaAmazing view over the old city, Equador is not the easisit city to walk around due to the elevation and steep roads, but with some careful planning we found the apartment to be in a great location for accessibility to the major attractions.

SwitzerlandThe hostel is located right next to the waterfall and thermal baths at the edge of town, which is nice and quiet. It’s only about a 15min walk from the bus station, and less than that to get to all the restaurants, bars, and shops. The staff are nice and helped us plan our time in Banos, including recommending an agency that could rent us good quality bikes for the waterfall route. We also enjoyed our breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer!

United StatesWe enjoyed our 5 night stay at La Posada del Arte. Although our room didn't match the Bookings description, it was comfortable and clean. Great location given its proximity to the waterfall in town (+ situated on a quiet street). Strong wifi. Hot shower. Good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

United StatesI would have liked a chair. For unclear reasons, my back has been unhappy lately and I would have liked a comfortable chair.
Excellent breakfast- very filling. The best part was that it’s at the end of town, near the falls and very near the termales. One can just walk on over very easily and jump right into that wonderful water. Also, despite what one has been hearing about the security in Ecuador lately, there wasn’t even a hint of any of that. The town felt very safe and easy to walk around in the evening.

CanadaThis isn’t so much the property but Banos has a power outrage from 2-4 each day or they did when we were there. Not sure if this is regular but if it is there is no power or wifi and not good service for a couple hours.
The property was in a very good location. It is very clean and the people are exceptionally nice. I had a very cozy , cute room and I love the art all over the walls in the hallways. The view from my room you couldn’t beat. The balcony was shared but I had one right in front of my window and enjoyed the view each day. The vibe of Banos was very appealing to me. I felt very welcome here. People ask about hot water, there is plenty and the water pressure is kinda low at times but I didn’t run out of hot water. I loved this place.

United StatesThe cleaning products in the bathroom have an intense scent - common in Ecuador, unfortunately. Easy to fix: I left the bathroom windows open & closed the door to the bathroom.
The owner was very welcoming, speaking to me in both Spanish and English. She let me check in early and made me very comfortable. People were around all day in the kitchen, at the front desk, and so on to answer questions and assist. It is perfectly located on the edge of town, easy walking distance to everything. I ended up spending more time at the hotel than I expected because the courtyard is so lovely. I took pictures of sculptures and other art -- they have a pretty setup. Excellent food. Filtered water is available from the kitchen. If you're a cyclist, talk to Karl! I noticed his Trek bike and his wife encouraged me to talk to him about biking in Ecuador. I definitely will speak to him if I come back with my touring bike!

United KingdomOnly (minor) thing is that it’s a bit of a walk from the bus station (15/20 mins). Although it is nice to be away from the main busy area too. Depends what you like!
Very cute hotel, full to the brim with art on every wall with a couple of friendly resident dogs too. Beautiful patio and garden area and some rooms have a view of the nearby waterfall. The husband and wife team were very caring and helpful when I fell ill so I really appreciated their support. Not all places would be like that.

Loved La Posada Del Arte. Location on a quiet street just outside the busy center town was perfect. Easy walking distance to everything. The entire ambiance of the hostal, both public spaces and rooms, is bright, open, colorful, and tastefully decorated. Carl and Priscilla are fabulous hosts and their staff are great. Each of the breakfast choices, all made-to-order, are fabulous. I would definitely stay here again!

CanadaI want to be able to give this place a 10 and I feel like it's so close. Just needs a bit of updating with respect to room facilities. The bathroom tiles are cracked, the private balcony was actually a public balcony accessed from the hallway, and the single and double bed configuration made the room a bit awkwardly laid out. A bedside table, a mirror in the main room area, and a couple more charging ports might help, as would some amenities like shampoo and hooks to hang wet items. Also, the rooms on the third floor get really loud if it's rainy or windy since the tin roof is very noisy.
Beautiful setting right by the waterfall. Great view from our room. The hotel is like a museum or gallery, with local art all over the walls. We were warmly greeted by the owners who were so helpful for our whole stay. Bathing caps provided if you want to visit the local thermal baths. A close walk to the centre of town but set back on a quiet street. Breakfast was delicious and served in the lovely garden. Really enjoyed our stay!

Right in the heart of Banos, the hotel was very charming, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Solid wifi that allowed me to take some work calls.

United StatesNothing at all. I bought a few bottles of wine for my 3 hour bus ride back to Quito and forgot to have the bottles opened at the hotel as we didn't have an opener. My bad :-( The hotel did hook us up with ice to keep the wine chilled.
Staff is very accommodating and friendly. I love the two resident dogs. We had a late arrival and a staff member reached out to our party of 12 to see if we wanted to have dinner prepped ahead of time so that when we arrived we could eat a hot meal at the hotel.
