Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMy only recommendation is to install a pole with a curtain to hide the TV as most people don't watch TV on holiday and it was an unnecessary modern touch in an otherwise nicely renovated historical room. Keep the A/C though! Also, adding an air conditioner to the communal lounge area would entice people to sit there, but the courtyard and roof top were more than sufficient communal areas.
It's very rare that I give a property 10/10 but this place deserves it! I absolutely loved everything about it. If you want to stay somewhere with history and character with modern finishes like A/C and hot water, then choose this place. I loved the cast iron door handles, four-poster beds, the colour scheme and tiles. The roof top and courtyard areas were a great place to relax. The museum info boards in English and Spanish were a unique addition and made me feel like I was staying in a truly special place. Breakfast was substantial. Also for those of you wondering whether Santo Domingo is safe, I was shocked at it being one of the safest places I've been in Latin America, specifically all of Zona Colonial and the Three Eyes National Park. (I've travelled a lot elsewhere in Latin America).

United StatesWe did not know the room was on the second floor and there is no elevator. The breakfast was mediocre.
The gentleman at the front desk took our (heavy) suitcases to our second floor room and brought them down when we checked out. The hotel also arranged transportation for us. The hotel and the room were historic.

BulgariaThe location is right in the heart of the Colonial zone, the staff is very friendly and they make sure your stay is amazing. There is a very nice terrace on the upper floor while the building itself has a very ancient history which you wil discover once there.

ChileFront desk person in the afternoon shift is only focused on his own activities (phone) and doesn’t even look up or greet.
The building is a museum and there is lots to see, the rooms are very nice but without daylight, these have airconditioning. The common area and breakfast area is very hot. Kitchen and cleaning staff are very attentive

Trinidad and TobagoRooms are a bit dark but it wasnt a big issue for us. Its on a quieter street so walking late at night can be a bit lonely.
Very quaint and unique place as its a historical building. The rooms open into a nice courtyard area as shown in the pictures on Booking. Its very close to the main attractions in the historical zone. Very clean, good breakfast and daliy housekeeping. Very good restuarants are close by. All in all its a really good boutique hotel. They are also able to arrange tours and taxis for guests. Someone is at the front desk 24 hrs which was also good. I would stay here again.

EstoniaSometimes the electricity would go away, but it boosted back up quickly!
Such a unique hotel, a true blast from the past, in the best way possible. It is a museum/hotel, so it has some information on the walls about the building and the city as well as some artefacts. The rooms each have a private entrance and you get step out into the courtyard from your room. We were in room number 5, it had two hugeeee beds and it was very comfortable. The wifi was great, the bathroom was big. Truly enjoyable experience.

SwitzerlandThe rooms have small windows and are unfortunately dark. Rooms at the ground floor are located right at the courtyard where breakfast is served right in front of the doors so there is little privacy in the morning.
Perfect location in the town next to a square, the building has a historic charme and it comes with a surprisingly beautiful rooftop although it is not serviced.

GermanyWe loved the courtyard and the mix of authentic colonial style and comfort! We also enjoyed the rooftop terrace. Our room was clean and spacious and comfortably cool thanks to the AC. The bed was comfy and the breakfast had a great variety of fruits and types of scrambled eggs. We loved the coffee, it helped cure our jet lag. The staff was really friendly and helpful, nevertheless it would have helped if we could have spoken a bit of Spanish. The location was perfect, we were right in the heart of the zona colonial and had everything (supermarket, ATM, restaurants etc.) right around the corner. We highly recommend staying here.
