Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe evening noise if there was a function on.
A very comfortable place to stay. Everything is clean and well presented. The inclusive breakfast offers a wide selection for cereals, cold cuts to hot dishes.

United Stateswe arrived in the rain, we were soaked. Reception wasn’t very welcoming. We happened to stumble upon the changing of. The guard at 12. Reception should have told us about it. I explained we were tracing a memory I had in the town with my grandmother, who is Danish. If you are in the hospitality business show a little interest in your guests, encourage them to see x,y,z. It was a very disappointing reception.
The Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. The dinner in the Bistro was fantastic. We enjoyed the tasting menu.

AustraliaA little more attention could be paid to cleaning the rooms some days it just seem to be a cursory effort on the part of the staff. I think that had a lot to do with what staff was actually on.
The property is ideally located if you want to access the cities and towns in New Zealand. The morning breakfast is excellent with a good variety of things to choose and is very fresh.

United KingdomOur room 401 was clean and tidy although extremely hot, but when I asked about a fan one was provided promptly. There were no tea/coffee or even any bottled water was provided in the rooms. The bed was not good if you made the slightest move it creaked and groaned very noisy! When I was in the shower first time allready wet, the hair and body wash had not been refilled, I notified the receptionist who did not seem to be at all bothered! When we were sat in the evening having a drink with friends At 10pm someone started to open and close all the doors very rudely and noisily, they didn’t speak with us at all and when we got up to say good night and left the library room at 10.20pm everything was closed down and no staff to be found …. If only someone had spoken to us it would have been better!!
It was in a nice little area and had the potential to be wonderful. The breakfast staff were delightful and always willing to help. The breakfast staff also provided a lovely spread and worked hard.

CroatiaThe room could use an extra door between the hallway of the room and the bedroom area, to reduce noise from other guests in the hotel. Staff wasn’t too service oriented compared to other hotels we’ve experienced.
Very clean room and comfortable bed. Lots of parking spaces. Good breakfast and nice areas to relax in the lobby. Amazing location.

United KingdomReception being at the back of the property is a bit odd. It would be nicer to be greeted on entering the property instead of having to wind your way to the rear.
Character-filled building. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Good breakfast selection

GermanyPlease change the shower curtain. It looks like something you would expect from a cheap train-station hotel, super old and dirty. And the shower is so small, the curtain always sticks to your body which wants you to shower again. Also for a 4****, no bottled water in the room, no coffee/tea making facility, no facial tissue in the bath?
Friendly staff, the bed was comfy, the restaurant does serve excellent food, the castle grounds next to it are stunning!

NorwayNo curtains on bathroom window. Felt very exposed. Would not have cost much to give guests the bare minimum of privacy. Do better going forward! No fridge in the room for water/soft drinks. This was an issue since we were in the annex without easy access to the bar/reception.
Very accommodating receptionist who allowed us to check in early. Thanks!

GermanyAs a group just had had breakfast it seemed we just got the leftovers. There was not enough hot water for tea - and no waiter was around. A nice touch would be coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
The Hotel is a historic Kro, very charming - our room was very large with windows to the front and side. The staff at the reception was very friendly. It’s just a short stroll to Fredensborg castle and It’s gardens.

SwedenStaying in the annex was a bit disappointing as it does not have the same historic atmosphere as the main hotel. Lack of lounge facility/sitting room and no tea/coffee in the annex made the stay feel less welcoming. The staff at breakfast were not prepared for gluten or lactose free food despite submission of allergy request at booking. They managed to find some gluten free bread after some difficulty. They struggled to answer food allergy questions with any degree of certainty.
Great location very close to Fredensborg castle and town central area. Beautiful area to walk and bike around. Clean and tidy room with modern fittings.

United Kingdom.
Very plush hotel close to the Castle/Palace. Larger hotel than expected and plenty of space, not crowded. Evening meal was first class and price reflected that. Plenty of walks available on your doorstep. Local town was quite basic and not a lot to choose from for things to do. Better suited for seeing the Palace and going for walks. Would recommend
