No lift, had to carry my heavy luggage to first floor up & down by self, was troublesome… my room was annex to the main hotel, hence had to drag my heavy luggage on cobble stone paths damaging my luggage wheels

    Neat & clean room, location,

Great location, tidy and very pretty rooms. Warm with radiators. Not quite as the pictures though! Just a pillow each person, no extra blankets and a modern pull out couch - fine for our son but would not have comfortably slept 2 adults. Fridge was a drinks Fridge and nothing to do dishes with (soap, towel, cloth)

Check in was ok if you come after 3pm but if you come before that it could be impossible to get into the building to leave your luggage.

It was large and the beds were very firm and comfortable.

Location was good, but right above a loud bar. It was noisy. But most importantly, one of the mornings, we ran out of hot water. I find this a deal breaker. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Even though we were grateful to stay in rooms in the same building, we struggled with the process of leaving out luggage in the luggage room. I believe check out was at 11, but we were planning to be enjoying the city at that time, and our train didn't depart until the evening. The manager gave us the options of dropping the bags at the main building (a 10 minute walk away from the building we were in) at 9:00 am or 12:00 pm. So, we'd either have to wake up earlier than we'd planned or interrupt our daily activities to attend to our luggage. We chose to wake up early, but when we arrived at the main location, no one was there and all the doors were locked. I repeatedly messaged and called the hotel, as I was very worried that they'd forgotten about the arrangement and that I'd be forced to interrupt my day to drop the luggage off. My husband walked around to the back of the building and found a maintenance worker to let him in, but this worker could not help us with the luggage room. Eventually, I got a call back from the hotel and someone showed up to open up the luggage room. The whole ordeal only took about 15 minutes, but it was very stressful and certainly not convenient.

I like Hotel Sudpfanne so much, I stayed there again on my second trip to Heidelberg. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, perfect if you're travelling with a dog and/or children. The restaurant is super cozy, has amazing food, beautiful table settings, and wonderful live music performed by a very friendly pianist who takes requests. The customer service is great as well. For my second stay, I'd had to book two rooms because my party was so large. Booking.com had automatically selected two rooms that (unbeknownst to me) were in two separate buildings, about a 10-minute walk apart. The hotel manager immediately knew this would be a problem and switched one of the rooms before we even had to ask. The location of the main building is amazing, as it's on a main road. The location of the alternate building isn't as great, but it's still centrally located in the city and a good place to start if you want to walk around.

No parking available "on site". We had to park in the public carpark across the road, which luckily had sufficient space and was in walkable distance.

Rooms were spacious and clean. Lots of space for a family of 5. Location was amazing for a one night stay!

    See above

Accomodation was large and spacious with different rooms. The two Beds were good and in two different rooms….. and the small kitchen was practical. Unpractical was that the second bedroom was in between the first one and kitchen/bathroom/toilet… Bathroom door was not working well and shower was ok but separated. Location was very good. Only a few meters away from the X-mas market/old town center. Can advise for a short stay fo a family.

Bedrooms are joined together and separated by a door. If needs to go to the toilet, they need to walk through the other room. Not good for friends traveling together. No door to the shower area.

Great location in the centre of town. Nice touch that the hotel provided earplugs so we didn't have to listen to the music from the bar below, though it wasn't too bad.

The room is in a separate building 5min walk from the main restaurant/Hotel and there was no air con, only a fan to cope with the heat.

Location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town. Room was reasonably sized, and there are plenty of eateries and attractions very close by.

    - The key entry to the room was a nightmare for us to lock / unlock! - Checking in was a bit of a mystery at first until we realised we had to go into the pub (next door on the right). We felt at the time we were a bit of an inconvenience to the staff that checked us in.

Room was very spacious with an update bathroom. We found the bed to be larger than the average size. Location was great, a 2-minute walk to where the old town starts. A short walk to shops and restaurants. If you want to go into the main city, a train station is about a 4-minute walk. Close to the castle / rail. If you want to go mountain bike riding, this is a great location to start at the bottom of the hill. The walk to the river was a short distance and all up around a 1hr round trip. The windows are thin panes of glass so I can understand on a busy night in the onsite beer garden, this could be quite disruptive with noise, but we never experienced this.

You get the key behind the counter at a restaurant. On the reservation it says "check in at 3 pm." that's because there's literally nowhere to check into before 3. Everything is locked and empty. There is no concierge to ask questions, nowhere to leave luggage, no usual "hotel" type amenities. Parking is in the public city lots which range from 1 block to 6 blocks away depending on which building you're in, and which can be expensive. Also, you're not guaranteed a spot. We got one in the lot by the cable car, but on busy days you might not. You technically, legally, cannot even drive up to some of the buildings to drop off passengers or luggage, so just be sure you can walk. Also, the bed was extremely soft. Which I hate, but isn't necessarily bad for everyone.

Great as long as you don't have a car or mobility issues. Calling this a hotel is an exaggeration - it's a collection of very nice, clean rental rooms spread over four buildings in a pedestrian only area of the old town. it's a beautiful location IF you can walk and don't have a car or don't mind hauling luggage from a public parking garage several blocks and up flights of stairs. It's very close to the castle and the rooms were charming and clean. So a good value as long as you're mobile, don't have to deal with a car and don't need info, or a place to store luggage before or after checkout. Perfect for backpackers traveling by train. As a family with a car, luggage and sciatica, it was not ideal. There was a coffee machine, electric kettle and a miniature refrigerator in the room. that was nice. Lots of little restaurants and bars nearby, including in the ground floor of the building we were in. Surprisingly though, we couldn't hear it, so that was good too.

The room was very basic in its decor, although very large, and certainly adequate for a family of perhaps up to six. The pillows were not very comfortable and should be upgraded by the owners.

The property was spacious and perfectly located in the centre of the old town. There is underground parking across the street, and everything of interest is within walking distance.
