While the property deserves to be visited and is beautiful, we had an unpleasant surprise. Once at the property, we were offered a room that was of a category different and in particular lower than what we paid. The room offered didn't match any of the room's pictures showed on booking.com Therefore it would be important for the Booking.com clients to verify carefully and to ensure that what they've paid for it is actually given. Eventually we have received a fantastic room that was at level of what we've paid for.

We loved the location, the breakfast, dinner, absolutely outstanding and the room was gorgeous! The Hotel is amazing, traditional and well maintained plus close to a green, luxuriant forest that is all around. The area is so quite and peaceful. Pure beauty. We would recommend to all.

Bed was slightly small in a standard room, and my partner was upset there was no bath. Also, we would appreciate a bit more info about the castle itself! We left without having learned anything about it 💁🏼‍♀️

We really had a great weekend at the castle! Having read reviews, we were expecting some noise from planes - but there was absolutely no noise heard in our room👍🏻 Room was beautiful, we had tasty dinner at restaurant 1831. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best we had in hotels. Definitely want to come back!

Room was a tiny bit dated. Some of the facilities were not available (eg the Bistro), but since it’s a small place, it’s understandable. Overall I also think the hotel could make visitors more aware of the history and details of the amazing property.

Breakfast / food in general was fantastic and the hotel was a great location with easy access to Dusseldorph and surrounding areas.

Staying in a junior suite, there were small things that were out of place. E.g. broken toilet paper holder, broken sink stopper. The luggage closet also contained the minibar.

The park is gorgeous. Very well-maintained grounds. The staff were impeccable. Food was great.

The breakfast is offered in an elegant and fantastic restaurant; as it is charged per person/day, if you have a family, it is not value for money for the everyday use.

Excellent location and superb rooms, fabulous and unforgettable stay! We lived for 8 years in Kettwig in the past and we can strongly recommend this unique Hotel, especially for family vacations!

Had a parcel delivered to the hotel which arrived after we checked out. Hotel forwarded the parcel at their service to my home address, abroad. Extremely good costumer service! Good parking facilities.

Billiard room needs to be upgraded, Price was fairly high especially without Breakfast. Already knew beforehand-- however-No other activities on site in winter months. Fitness center off site no pool.

Male receptionist could be more friendly. Menu in restaurant 1831 is limited and dishes are to expensive for a non- Michelin star restaurant.

no one told us there was an elevator which we could have used. on checkout day, I had to carry down our luggages via stairs. it was rough and tiring as well as dangerous.

Dinner was only from 18-21.00 Uhr and trying to order a dessert after 21.15 was not possible - also trying to get a coffee at 21.30 was mentioned - Coffee machine is off - sorry.. The Restaurant outside in the courtyard definitive does not fit the rest of the place. A bit Pity - Thus only a 4 out of 5.

Fantastic Hotel and Breakfast was extraordinary. The Landscape and the Building itself. Really worth a trip! Quite and well located - very close to Essen.

Breakfast was overpriced and disappointing, not much fresh selection and not worth 30 EUR/pp.

Beautiful building and garden, perhaps now past its best. Not very international clientele or level of service versus a more modern five star hotel.
