Excellent location, friendly staff. The restaurant was lovely and breakfast was one of the best we have had. Some things to be aware of if you are travelling to this hotel: the lift only goes to the third floor (there are four floors), so request a lower room if you have mobility difficulties. The parking can be a little bit tricky - we always found a spot (though occasionally had to park in an electric charging spot which we felt a bit bad about), but it can cause some anxiety when returning to the hotel late and not being sure about whether there will be a park. Also be aware that there is no air conditioning and the room did get very warm particularly after a few days of high heat. There was a fan provided which kept us comfortable, however. We stayed on the top floor and the celiings at the side of our room were very low, requiring us to crouch when getting into bed, and occasionally my 6’1 husband would hit his back! None of these points are big negatives, just things to be aware of if you are looking at this property. None of these points were anything we felt needed to be raised or complained about because we had a lovely time and were comfortable, but others may like to know about these things. It’s a very cute place in a fantastic location, and if you are travelling for the Festival the restaurant is open after the opera and the staff arrange a shuttle to and from the festspielhaus. So overall a wonderful place to stay and recommend!

As we all discovered during the Euros 24 football tournament, Germany is no longer quite as efficient as we all imagine when it comes to trains and plumbing! Like so many German hotels, the plumbing isn’t great. The shower was tiny and water sprayed in all directions and with very variable temperatures. But for me, it’s a trivial point and wouldn’t stop me from returning as the location, food and helpful staff make up for a poorly-fitting washer and tired thermostat.

Great location for the Bayreuth Festival, Wahnfried, New Palace, and Margravine’s Opera House. Really good breakfast with huge fluffy croissants, crispy bacon and those delicious white sausages that you only get in Bavaria. Nice restaurant that stays open late when the festival is on so you can get a good, restorative dinner after five hours of Wagner. The mango sorbet was amazing: so delicious and refreshing on a hot and humid summer’s night. There’s onsite parking with four EV chargers that were easy to use and were €0.51 per kWh. Overall, a really good option. One thing to note is that it’s an old mill next to a fast-running weir so there is some noise if you’re on the riverside. However, I found the sound of the rushing water to be relaxing rather than annoying.

I really enjoyed and would definately stay again - not least for going to the Festspiel. The hotel even offered a shuttle service (though I walked there in less than 30 mins) and kept the restaurant open for opera guests to have a late dinner upon returning. Bayreuth is not big, but the hotel is also super convenient for walking around, and very short distance to the Wagner museum and the park.

If you get a room towards the back, the river is loud and you need to keep your windows shut..so it can be warm in summer.

I felt the room was a little smaller than I was used to, but comfortable. The staff was exceptional, friendly,helpful, and peaceful!!

There was a lot of dust and some old peanuts (!!) under our bed (tell cleaning staff to be less lazy). A pity, otherwise this hotel would score higher...

Very nice hotel in an a great location, 10 minute walk to the city center. Check-in and check-out was simple and quick. Comfortable bed, quiet hotel, good breakfast! Looking forward to staying there again in the future. Otherwise, we had a very nice stay.

The room was the closest one by the entrance / reception area & doors on the ground floor. So I could hear the other guests go to breakfast early. or the house keeping people moving around from early morning.

Location for the Railway station and the Opera House was perfect. Facilities are simple but very clean.

Rooms at the back of the building suffer from noise from road and mill stream. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Bathrooms are very compact and shower cubicles a little awkward.

Great location, only minutes walk from town centre. Staff are friendly, helpful and multilingual. Very good breakfast buffet, plentiful and with a wide range of choices. Very good restaurant: one of the best in Bayreuth. Hotel arranges taxi and minibus rides before and after the opera performances and the restaurant remains open for late suppers for guests. Rooms are compact but beds are comfortable.
