Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceWe have stayed at the Penta in Kassel on several occasions as it is ideally situated in a quiet street close to Wilhelmshöhe station. The breakfast is always excellent and we also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the Kassel travel card supplied by the hotel makes sightseeing easy. Bis bald!

GermanySauna was out of order. The room was hot like an oven , I asked the reception for a fan twice, and they just refused. The whole night the window had to be kept open. The hotel need to have atleast couple of fans available for their guests , since there was no AC in the rooms.

GermanyWe didn't have hot water during the stay, and were told that "this could happen". We were offered a discount, which at the end they refused to issue on check out. The sheets and towels were old, stained and had holes. Generally the room and bath were dirty. The pinballs in the rooms that are shown on the photos are not there anymore. If you come for games, there is only billiard in the lobby.
Right next to the train station and transport. Free billiard in the lobby.

United KingdomBooking was made for 2 adults and 3 kids. Room was booked with 2 double beds and 1 single bed to fit 5 of us. After check in we got the room with 3 single beds. When we spoke with reception they said that they don’t sell our room for more than 2 people but when I asked so why in the description they have this room as a Double Plus - with 2 double beds and one single he couldn’t answer this. We had to pay for extra double room. The extra room had 2 double beds which were bigger than in the first room which meant to be already bigger!!!!!
Idea of coming back to the Hotel where we used to stay in the past

United KingdomDidn’t feel like hotel but rented room.Bathroom with tiles like in hospital very dated everything.2-3 stars nothing more than that .But in Kassel it’s probably hard to find anything better.Looks like Germany is going down in their what used to be high standards. Guy at the reception was not very nice.Tried to overcharge us .Price is ridiculous for what this is .It’s more like a work hotel for Labourers.

Germanythere was no AC in the rooms and they gave us a very small dan with only two power speed. I was with my kid and we both couldn’t sleep because of the heat. The bathroom smells really bad specially the shower tub. The breakfast was ok but they fried the egg using the bacon oil! I am vegetarian and couldn’t eat eggs as it was mixed with some bacon pieces! In addition, the plates were very dirty! I picked up 3 plates and they all had food stains. Never again! waste of money
The location is perfect.

FranceThis was our second stay at the Penta, situated next to the Wlhelmshöhe main line railway station. The rooms are calm, comfortable and very clean and the staff are pleasant and helpful. The delicious breakfasts are varied and copious. The local travel card supplied by the hotel is an added bonus with nearby bus and tram connections to the city centre and to the Castle. We look forward to staying at the Penta again in the future!

NetherlandsThe room was very hot, we had to open our door, open a window in the hall to ventilate and finally reach a tolerable temperature. For the shower you had to climb in the bathtub, the water stank in the beginning when we opened the tap. The furniture was poor, only one chair to sit at the table. furniture was damaged. The building is black, outside and inside, leaving a very sad impression. The room was at a busy street. We payed € 217 for one night, including use of the garage, quite a lot for the delivered quality. When checking out they could not view and print out our invoice, it was sent by email.
Friendly staff, the breakfast was satisfactory.
