There was construction/renovation work going on which was not so nice to look at and at times a little noisy but we were informed about this in advance and the hotel staff do their best to avoid this bothering guests.

Beautiful location in a peaceful valley. Everything was very clean and spacious. The spa is surprisingly large with many different areas to relax in.

The rooms were very clean !!! The hotel is fancy ! As a person coming from dubai I find it really fancy and royal to be here ! The pool was sensational! The food was very awesome ! And we felt that they made everything with love ! I advice you to come as a couple although they had a kids club for children ! And they reserve the same table with your name for breakfast and dinner also, so you see the same people sitting around you and with that they make you feel comfortable and we met very nice people here also ! That was the best place I have ever visited with my small family since now

The decor in the rooms was a little old fashioned, but it does also add to the character. Quite expensive, but it is worth it.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in. The best feature by far for us was the pool/outdoor area - the properly heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub were perfect for enjoying the views of the black forest around you. The lawn with comfortable sunbeds was also great for reading, sunbathing and relaxing. The restaurant was good, a reasonable number of vegetarian options, lovely atmosphere with excellent service. Rooms were big, with wonderful balconies and ours had a peaceful green view. Really, really didn't want to leave and would love to stay here again.

Our parents that were travelling with us had a smaller room (which was booked like this for purpose, as there was only two of them, and three of us - together with our daughter), however the bed in their room was surprisingly small - more a single than a double bed. We took a child dish for our daughter at dinner, and were surprised it came with a small "gummi bärchen" package. It ended up being her first time trying this German delicacy ;) (she is 2.5 years old), but we would have preferred to make this choice with regards to the sweets served to our kid (especially, as it is advertised as a wellness hotel).

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We were simply looking for a night somewhere halfway between Europapark and Stuttgart in a hotel, which would have a pool and good cuisine. But this find is such a gem! The spa area: numerous saunas and hammams (we were travelling with a small child, so did not get a chance to visit any, but it was really impressive), several swimming pools, jacuzzi - as the hotel was not fully booked, we had it all basically to ourselves. Restaurant: dinner was great, but breakfast was even better (it rated top five of the breakfasts we had in a hotel, and we do travel a lot) - they even have a special room dedicated to juicing! Extra positive surprises: a simple lunch was included in the room rate (we had no idea), there was a small bathrobe and matching slippers for our small child ready in the room, there was even a changing mat and bin for nappies in the room when we arrived!

Why we wouldn't come back: - The building site, which we were not informed about. I'm a bit tired of hotels that carry out major renovations without informing guests (and yes, there are other ways). The front façade of the hotel is currently being scaffolded and the terrace of one of the restaurants is being completely renovated (see pictures). Even though it may not bother many people and we did not experience any noise disturbance I would at least like to have the opportunity to decide for myself whether to check into a hotel with a building site. At a 5-star hotel in Scotland, we were informed of this in advance and could then decide whether it bothered us or not. - the sun lounger situation: when we arrived - without exaggeration - all the sun loungers were occupied. The sunbathing area was full. The person at the spa couldn't really help us. And the receptionist also referred us to the spa staff again (super helpful when the person couldn't help us) ... We then found two sun loungers that were still free somewhere and put them in the shade (there were no more parasols). - Some other things that weren't great: the sun loungers were okay, but the side table was a plastic table. Also, the water fountain by the pool didn't work and we felt that some areas should have been cleaned better (e.g. the sliding glass door from the indoor to the outdoor pool). - We found a pair of pants (presumably from the previous guest) in the room. Since the wellness pool area did not convince us and since we are of the opinion that the construction site should have been declared, we would not come back. By the way another guest also had the same experience a few weeks ago and nothing changed. We have high expectations of a 5 star hotel for the price, which unfortunately were not met. As described above, there were also many positive points, which should make the feedback objective and helpful.

We stayed 1 night at the Wellness & Genuss Resort - Engel Obertal and these were our impressions: Great was: - the reception with suitcase pick up, champagne and the escort to the room. - The very nice entrance area. - The beautiful & very clean room. With a welcome gift (fruit, chocolate & water). - The dinner: There was really no shortage of indulgence here. We had the 5-course menu with salad buffet, porcini mushroom soup, beef fillet, fish wrapped in bacon, cheese platter to choose yourself & Grand Manier mousse for dessert. All the dishes were delicious and prepared with great attention to detail. The service was also super nice. - Breakfast was great 👌 the corner where you could squeeze your own juice with fresh fruit. Freshly prepared egg dishes, fruit, pancakes, various teas, sparkling wine, cheese. Teas, sparkling wine, cheese and meat platters, cornflakes, various breads, sausages, etc. breads, sausages, etc. Everything your heart could desire! - We left with freshly baked bread and water for the journey home.
