Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenThe closest shop is a 10 minute drive. And the reception/restaurant don’t carry any snacks besides 90s style chili nuts. There is a decent wine/beer/soft drink vending machine though. But really, with no shops in the vicinity the least you would expect is at least a cursory selection of snacks/sweets. Surely a missed opportunity to sell even more stuff to your guests??
Uniquely wonderful hotel. Our room was on the highest floor, overlooking the river valley below. Simply wonderful to wake up to every morning! The restaurant was very good, with lovely breakfast, regional cuisine for dinner and a great selection of local/regional wines.

AustraliaOur room has about 12 power outlets but only one was able to be used! Not really anything wrong, just curious! A small refrigerator in the room would make it perfect.
Such a beautiful place to stay on the Rhine! We were upgraded to a bigger room which was perfect. People mention the trains on the river side are loud but we didn't even notice them! Breakfast was delicious and the tour of the castle an added bonus. Lovely staff too.

GermanyA small point that they can easily rectify (and that we gave as feedback directly) is that you need to put the actual address of Burgweg 24 55413 Trechtingshausen into your Navi or phone. We just use our phone as the Navi and it came up with the parking below the Hotel. We could not figure out how to drive up to the door and when we called we got an answering system so we just hauled our bags up the hill, which made for a grumpy start that will be avoided by any reading this review and hopefully the hotel will make sure it is clearer on the website. Otherwise a really great stay. Ps. If you come with the train it is also an uphill walk with your luggage
It is so well done, just a great addition and reconstruction - everything quality. The museum was amazing. You walk through the house of the family and the collection is huge and so "warm" (not cold and sterile like many museums), as are the various viewpoints of the Rhine. Also, very dog-friendly incl having a bed and bowl for our fur baby. Breakfast was good and the afternoon free coffee/cake/light snack was all great, as was dinner and wine (and fun to have a wine vending machine in case you need a late nightcap ;-))

United States of AmericaWe loved everything about our stay at Burg Reichenstein! Our room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and had a view of the castle ruins. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The location of the hotel is wonderful, situated right next to Burg Reichenstein, which was interesting to explore and romantic to walk around at night. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, as was the generous breakfast. If we ever get to go to Germany again, we will go back to Burg Reichenstein!

United States of AmericaHotel Burg Reichenstein is a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money. It is very romantic and beautiful with flowers all over the place. Great location overlooking the Rhine river. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfast excellent. The hotel offered free tea and coffee with cakes in the afternoon. The staff was helpful in every way. The restaurant in the castle is excellent. It is definitely worth visiting the castle and museum of the property. All is very well preserved and restored.

GermanyCheck-in was a bit convoluted, you had to check in inside the little storefront. Parking was awful, if you didn't get into one of the 7 spots near the castle gate, you were walking 3km from parking at the bottom of the hill (and I was with mobility impaired family members). Reception did not return my dad's credit card upon check-in, the only way I knew they had it was when I called them to ask a question (they did not notify me). Only stairs, no elevator and rooms were on opposite sides of the castle, we adjusted, but it was a little difficult.
Beautiful castle with 24 hotel rooms. I booked 2 rooms, both were small, but comfortable, bathrooms were very small. Breakfast was decent, several choices and ability to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Views of the Rhine were phenomenal.

United States of AmericaThis was the rare experience in which there was nothing we didn’t like. All aspects of our time at Burg Reichenstein were resoundingly positive.
We loved everything about our stay… The rooms were spacious, modern, and comfortable. The staff were consistently professional, helpful, and friendly. The castle grounds were beautiful. Breakfast and high tea were delicious, with a very generous selection. The location is excellent because it serves as a great launching off point for other adventures, though we were very happy to linger at Burg Reichenstein because it’s such a wonderfully inviting castle itself.
