Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA magical life in the midst of the jungle. If you want to live in a beautiful villa amidst the jungle and watch birds, squirrels, and monkeys during breakfast - this is the place for you. Wonderful hosts: spacious rooms and delicious breakfasts. A 10-minute walk to the beach. And it's the most picturesque beach in the area.

Costa RicaEverything was great
I can't praise this place enough! Agnes and Jo were incredibly kind and ensured we had a perfect stay. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. The pool was a highlight for me. Everything was spotless, and the view is simply breathtaking. There's even a spot on the terrace for yoga or weightlifting. The beach (Playa Pelada) and restaurants are closer than I expected, just a 10-20 minute walk depending on your destination. The rooms are cozy and clean, though the walls are a bit thin, so sound carries—but this didn't bother us. If there were still rooms available, I would have extended my stay. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

CanadaWeak water pressure in the shower. Apparently, this is a common problem for the area.
We loved our stay at Villa Mango B&B. It had everything that we needed. Beautiful property with a fantastic view, pool, good breakfast options, access to a fridge with a variety of beverages for purchase or storage of our own drinks or food. The hosts were fantastic and very accommodating. We spent 7 nights at Villa Mango and would definitely come back again. Thank you, Guillaume and Lissane, for making our stay enjoyable

United StatesThere isn’t very much parking and the spaces are a little tight. Breakfast was sufficient but could be improved a little.
The B&B has an interesting architecture that reminds me of the southwestern US. The room and common area are very comfortable. You can relax in a hammock and watch the howler monkeys outside. It’s just a short walk to a nice biological reserve with trails that pass through a mangrove forest.

Such a perfect spot at the end of the road, high above the beach. Views and quiet, just howler monkeys. Our hosts were so welcoming and gave us insider tips from their 21 years in the area. Lovely, gracious space - we were so pleased to have stayed there. The pool is so refreshing and the breakfast & chatting with fellow travelers was great!

AustraliaThe only negative was some difficulty in locating the B & B - no fault of the owners as the area is undergoing constant development with roadworks, heavy tourist traffic & building works adding to the general generic chaos that’s a part of travel in Central America.
The design & construction of this B & B was a work of art & a testament to Joe’s woodworking skills. Every detail of our room & the shared areas were designed with love & pride. The beautifully designed, comfortable & spacious lounge is situated in a way that provides a wonderful view over the coast. Joe was extremely welcoming, provided practical information about the Nosara region & is a very interesting & entertaining raconteur. The breakfast spread was by far the best I’ve encountered in my years of travel. Sitting at the handsome table, (designed & handmade by Joe) with the other guests, was a very easy & sociable start to the day. I can’t speak highly enough of our stay as Joe & his partner (who was overseas at the time of our stay & whom Joe obviously adores & credits with keeping the place, & him, together) have obviously worked hard & thoughtfully to provide a space where we were treated like friends welcomed into their home.

CanadaAlthough we became friends in the end, the initial meeting was a bit unfortunate as our room was changed without notice. It worked out in the end, but initially, we were told such a thing 'normally wasn't an issue', as if our being frustrated that we weren't getting the same room that we booked was unreasonable. I also didn't like that we were told we would need to pay $10 to use the air conditioning, and only once we realized the room was different from the time of booking did they decide that we could use it due to the inconvenience. Also, I was bitten by bed bugs, and although they tried to clean the mattress and sheets, I was bitten again by many more (or more angry) bugs, which became quite an issue going forward for me. The owners only did the bare minimum and never actually apologized for the inconvenience nor offered any deduction due to the very painful and itchy experience. I sincerely hope they take this issue more seriously so the bugs don't spread to other travellers.
The owners are pleasant and sociable. They created a nice environment for guests to hang out and get to know one another. Their groundkeeper was INCREDIBLY helpful for my mother who got injured and needed assistance to move around. The owners were also helpful in providing information and assistance during this unfortunate event. The pool and upstairs space are nice to hang out and relax.

United KingdomEverything was great.
Agnes and Jo are both welcoming and friendly. Jo explains the whole local area with a map giving you tips on best places to eat and go. Any need you have is catered for, to their best of their ability. The staff are friendly and helpful. Villa Mango is very comfortable, lots of places to relax in the shade while watching the wildlife from the jungle below. The pool is partly shaded from lunchtime onwards - which is just fabulous as you get to be outdoors and stay cool. Lots of opportunities to see wildlife just from being there. The communal breakfast around the wonderful big table every morning helped with exchanging info about local area and other places in Costa Rica with other guests. Jo and Agnes, eat with you so you get to know them and can ask any questions about area too. It's like being a part of a big family every morning. We felt really looked after. So much gratitude in our hearts for the welcome and stay at Villa Mango with Agnes and Jo. Thankyou! Pura Vida!
