A lovely place to stay in San Jose! Very close to the beach. both the room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable, and it had air conditioning. The breakfast is delicious, the best we had during our 2-weeks travel around Costa Rica! We haven’t dined in the restaurant there but the bar in the garden is great! Especially that there is not really where to go around town after dark (which is a big advantage as Puerto Carrillo is calm and peaceful) :) And last but not least, very kind and helpful staff!

The location is great. Walking distance to Playa Carrillo, a great Pacific Beach. The rooms were small, but air conditioned and comfortable. The breakfasts -- included -- were delicious and beautifully presented. The meal we had at the restaurant was among the best ever. Roberto and the staff were gracious and helpful. A great location for viewing birds.

We had an amazing time at the hostels! The cozy atmosphere, along with a fantastic restaurant and bar where the owners and Alejandro crafted amazing drinks, made our stay truly memorable. They created a lively atmosphere, and being just a 4-minute walk from the beach, we enjoyed the best sunsets in all of Costa Rica! Highly recommend this place – we'll be back soon for sure! Perfect destination for our honey moon!

Bathroom needs maintenance or a bit of polish. Noisy restaurant next to rooms and not much privacy on the balcón due to guests walking around.

Tipico breakfast with fruit is sufficient. Sea view of the room is spectacular. Close proximity to the beach by walking.

The bathroom plumbing is in need of an update.

Perfect location above Playa Carrillo. Roberto is an excellent host. The breakfast options and quality were very good with ocean and jungle views.

The soap in the shower in my room’s bathroom was very low when I arrived and was not refilled.

A bit to basic room with tiny bathroom.

A really great place above Carillo beach. We had room 2 with a view over the ocean. Nice patio with a hammock and chairs to relax. Only 5min walk to the beautiful beach. Breakfast was very delicious with four options to choose from. It was also very quiet and our host Roberto was really very accommodating. We really enjoyed our three day stay here.

We were right next to the restaurant which didn't bother us at all as it wasn't noisy until very late, but something to be aware of for those who would mind, you might want to ask for a room further away from the restaurant. The hammock is right by the aircon output so even hotter than the rest of the outside! Everything in the room was functional but could use a little TLC like a missing plug in the sink, a broken hook etc but nothing that deterred from the wonderful experience we had, thank you!

The location of this place is just out of this world - a short walk to one of the most beautiful (and next to empty!) beaches I've been to with a difficult to top sunset view. The aircon worked well which was much appreciated. Our room was spacious with a lovely terrace with a hammock. The owner and staff couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. Lovely breakfast on the restaurant terrace with a view.

The room was just fine, nothing particularly special about it. However, it served us quite well.

Breakfast was just fine and typical Costa Rican. Location was in the dining room with a wonderful view over trees and the coast. Some evenings they also had dinner which was 4 or 5 star as far as I am concerned. It did cost a bit to along with all those stars but I thought it well worth it.

it’s a very young and dynamic place, where there is a lot of back and forth, so it can be noisy. However, at 11pm everything stops and the nights were very quiet.

This is a very cute place, very well located, close to the beach, on a hill in a large field so the view is quite extraordinary. The staff is amazing, always trying to be helpful. The place is super clean. There is a little bar outside where you can sit and enjoy nature. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast offer is also great: 4 options.

The restaurant was fantastic, many birds at breakfast and the view was great. Nice bar and the staff and owner were fantastic. The room was comfortable. This was our favourite beach on our trip, very short walk, sunset is as close to perfect as you can get.

My only disappointment was that my room didn't have the fabulous view shown in some of the pictures :) That was understandably an upgrade. But still I had a great private sitting area out back with a hammock and chairs that got my outdoor lounging fix in.

This was such a fun find! There aren't that many rooms, so I got to quietly get to know people just from seeing them around. Breakfast was my favorite time of day- the food was so good, and we all enjoyed the incredible view. We got to watch iguanas, parrots, and all kinds of animals- it was really fun! Roberto was so accommodating and helpful and addressed me by name every time I saw him, which made me feel very welcome. He put me at ease and was relaxing to see and be around. Every day I was given fresh towels and they were always made into lovely art- it was such a nice treat. The location was so excellent. I easily went to the beach to swim 3-5 times a day and it was so quick to get there. Thank yooooou!

I think the maintenance in the rooms could have been a little bit better. The fan in the bathroom fell apart and the shower was kind of tricky. It was difficult to maintain a constant temperature.

The breakfast were very good and they happily accommodated my wife's vegan diet. The staff was very warm and friendly. The location was amazing!
