Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumWe absolutely loved our stay at the Finca Chica lodge. This was by far the best stay of our holidays. The lodge is very clean and well equipped. Our lodge had its own little garden with hammocks from which we could enjoy the wildlife like the agouti's and hummingbirds. The host was extremely helpful, and the gardener showed us animals like sloths and lizards on the property. Waking up with the sounds of the birds and the howler monkeys was an amazing experience. We will definitely come back in the future!

GermanyAll great
Wonderful wooden house in a very serene environment and still close enough to beach, village and everything you need. The owner is very accommodating and kind. The gardener is also the nice knowledgeable expert in regards to the animals and plants on the property. The house was also cleaned daily. We only can recommend visitors to Puerto Viejo to stay at Finca Chica as it will be joy for everyone to get this very special experience.

United States of AmericaIt was not the fault of Finca Chica, but there was construction on the house next door from 8-1600 every day. It interrupted the tranquility of the stay, but we just made sure to be away during that time. It wasn't a problem for us, but there were a couple cats and a German Shepherd that came to visit us throughout the day, which might be for an issue for people who don't like animals.
This was our favorite place we stayed during our two week trip to Costa Rica. It was great being in the jungle, and having a cozy and private place to relax outside in the evenings. The owner is friendly and speaks decent English. He'll check up on you but also give you your privacy. The villa was clean with a nice fridge and a kitchen stocked with just about anything you would need to cook yourself. The outer porch had a couple of chairs and a hammock to relax in while you listened to nature and caught a fresh breeze. There is a nice grocery store just down the street and a pastry shop closeby for breakfast. The Cocles beach is a short walk away and is the best beach in the area, with several good restaurants and bars to choose from. Puerto Viejo is 3 km away; you can rent a bike nearby or walk it if you want. The first morning the gardner gave us a tour of the grounds and we saw several sloths, a toucan, an iguana, and many other animals. An agouti lived in the trees next to our villa. Decent bathroom and shower, comfortable bed with mosquito net, good wifi. It was nice to be outside the energy of Puerto Viejo but be close to its amenities, and away from the road noise of the main street.

United KingdomA suggestion, maybe an insect net on the door would mean that you could leave the door ajar but have no insects come into the room :-)

United States of AmericaThat we only booked 1 night on our way to Puerto Viejo
We loved everything!! From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. We happened to be the only guests so they gave us a much nicer bungalow than we booked which had a bathtub on the balcony! Every aspect, from location to accommodation to food to service far exceeded our expectations. Would be magical to have a wedding here. We did not want to leave and Armando was the nicest host you could ever ask for.

ItalyMore information about possibile activities and sightseeing nearby could be provided. As you are in the jungle, some bugs could be coming visiting the lodge (during the night).
Lodge equipped with everything you need and in the jungle (wildlife can be spotted). Very big patio and kitchen detached from the room itself.

Hungary-
Amazing open space concept, feeling like you live in the jungle (but you can close the covers if you need more privacy). The host is really friendly and the gardener is the nicest guy ever for showing us all the animals in the garden. I hope we can come back soon, we loved it so much!

Located in beautiful surroundings, the villa is like you are living in the jungle alone. You can’t see the other properties so it feels very secluded. The villa we stayed in has a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and patio with chairs and hammock. The property is well maintained, very nice shower and cleaned to a high standard. We got a fan in the room as there is no air con but it was sufficient. The staff are all very friendly during check in and check out and are able to answer any questions. The property is close to the beach, supermarket and local restaurants (short walk or drive away)

A superbly comfortable property within beautiful gardens/jungle and yet 200 meters off the road with easy access to shops and restaurants. Quite a find, also extremely friendly and helpful staff who maintain the villas in a quiet and efficient manner. Our villa was totally private and we spent very enjoyable hours taking in the glorious flora and fauna that is here in abundance. Also the WiFi is very fast and reliable.

United KingdomIt was very hot and humid being in the forest but we got used to it and used the fans at night.
I was a little startled at first as, apart from the bedrooms, it was outdoor living and I was worried about mosquitoes. However being in the forest and listening to the animals day and night was amazing. I particularly loved listening to the howler monkeys in the distance.

United States of AmericaNot a problem for us, but the owner has two very large dogs. They are tied up for the most part but if you or your family is afraid of dogs, might not be your first choice.
Beautiful secluded place yet very close to everything the area has to offer (restaurants, shops, bars, beaches etc.) Emilio was a very gracious and accommodating host and the superior villa we stayed in was exceptional. Very private, stylish and surrounded by lush plants. The kitchen was well equipped and included a juicer, coffee maker and blender for smoothies :-).

IrelandThe little tiny frog that appeared in the bathroom some nights but he really kept us entertained
This was an absolutely gem of a find. The location was perfect for us to explore the area but slightly back off the main tourist route. The lodge itself was stunning and such a great introduction for us to Costa Rica. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and I'd have no issue recommending this gorgeous place to others. It was also probably the best value for money location we had on our tour of Costa Rica

United States of Americainteraction / instruction from the staff was pretty much nonexistent; it wasn’t a huge issue but a little more explanation about nearby amenities (market nearby, path to the beach, restaurants) would have been really helpful
our Villa was gorgeous and had plenty of room; our kids loved the loft upstairs! the kitchen was well appointed- we were able to cook most of our meals and you feel like you’re right in the heart of the jungle, while just steps from the beach!
