Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAfter some thought about what could possibly have made our stay any better, bedside lamps would have been nice. However just a minor detail.
We liked everything. Amazing hotel for our honeymoon. We had no idea when we booked it what a great view of volcano Arenal we would have, not only from our balcony, but from the restaurant too. The food here is outstanding. One of the trips we had booked included lunch as part of the tour, which turned out to be at our hotel. All the tourists were wowed by the food and beautiful grounds and couldn't believe this was where we were actually staying. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the volcano. There are many frogs in the grounds, whose chiriping greets you every evening, but conveniently seems to quieten down when you are going to sleep. The grounds also include a mini nature trail which takes you into the edge of the rain forest. We saw several exotic creatures here that we didn't see anywhere else. Many thanks to the advice from the staff, without which we would have missed these!

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway at La Fortuna, I cannot recommend Casa Luna enough! Our stay was more than comfortable -- it was luxurious. The space, the beds, and the facilities were pristine and comfortable. The pools and jacuzzi were perfect after a long day of adventures, and the daily breakfast buffet was delicious and unique! The staff were incredibly helpful booking tours and massages which I also recommend.

United KingdomThese things did not spoil our stay but the breakfast staff are grumpy each morning ! One day we didn’t want to sit in a dark corner but as the front tables were set for 4 we couldn’t sit there. The tables are all the same size just extra settings. It rains a lot and unexpectedly - you have one umbrella in your room. It would be great to have them dotted around the property. We were wet a lot - somewhere to dry your clothes in your room or outside would be really helpful.
We loved our stay at Casa Luna. The property is beautiful - very relaxing and great to relax in the jacuzzi after a wet busy day! The reception staff particularly Karen and Katya prior to our arrival were exceptional. Food is good. Luna suite was spacious. However my biggest shout out is to Antonio one of the grounds men who walked around one evening looking for wildlife for us. He didn’t manage to find the red eyed frog he wanted to some found it in the morning and showed us. We were just leaving so perfect last impressions.

United KingdomThe room is a bit smaller than we thoughts. We cannot seem to open the window, maybe we didn't figure it out how. Be mindful about bugs, but this is what you get when you travel to a tropical country where has big biodiversity.
Good breakfast, clean pool, the massage was good, staff at reception was helpful in booking tours for us.

Costa RicaThe only caveat, and this is by no means a deal breaker, there seems to there be some missing sound isolation between the top floor and the main floor in the rooms, Whenever people were walking or moving stuff around on the top floor, we could hear the noise.
This is our second time to Casa Luna, and every time we get more convinced about this being the best option in the area for our family. Breakfast is very generous, tasty, fresh! The small jacuzzi type pools, are awesome, they are private, and very relaxing, especially with the scenery around them. The room is very comfy, large, with AC, mini fridge, a small balcony and large bathrooms. The trails are awesome, and the distance from any place to another within the property is not too long, so it is easy to get a hold of everything you need quicly

United StatesThe hotel would be perfect if it had a hot springs set up, but the price was better than those hotels with hot springs.
The breakfast was buffet style and it was a great breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and an omelette bar. The hotel was set up with small cottages that were dispersed among the lush green property. Great view of the volcano and also there were hiking trails. The shower was huge and had a rain style shower head. We loved the shower!

SwitzerlandNo moskito net on the windows so you need to keep them closed over night. No warderobe to hang our clothes. Too little light / lamps in the room.
Close to the Arenal Warefall. Nice pool area with bar and garten. We saw monkeys in the r threes :-) Food choices in the restaurant are good. The view towards Arenal could be good, but we did not see anything due to the clouds.

United StatesOnly problem we had was the shower head in our room had very little water pressure. Sink and lower faucet in the shower were fine. We notified the staff, and they said they would have maintenance look into it.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Karen at the front desk helped us to arrange 2 tours (North Fields coffee/chocolate tour, Sloth Territory sloth/wildlife tour), both were excellent, and fairly priced. Ronaldo in the restaurant was very attentive, and made a point to know (and remember!!) all of the customer's names! Food was good, and fairly priced. Very convenient location to Arenal volcano, and downtown La Fortuna!!

Hong KongRestaurant prices are a bit inflated, some of the staff serving breakfast were not that friendly. Location is a bit outside town, about 25’ walking or a $10 taxi ride.
Room with 2 queen beds, lots of space, comfortable bedding, welcome coffee kit. Housekeeping was great, they even made a little dog with the towels, which I always find such a nice touch (yes some might think its cheesy but I like it). The property has extensive grounds, well taken care of.

United KingdomThe only negative we have to mention is that we were charged about £40 more than what our booking confirmation said, and even more than the price we were originally quoted when we booked the room approx. 3 months before. This was put down to "conversion rates" which we found a bit suspicious as we haven't had the same problem with another hotel in Costa Rica.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Luna! Our favourite thing about it was definitely the pool and selection of jacuzzis. We also found the bed extremely comfy and enjoyed waking up to the sound of birds and sitting on the terrace with a coffee each morning. The restaurant was also very good!

The warmth of the staff. Amazing way when reaching your lodge, trees, and flowers everywhere. Sounds of animals were nice to hear. Nature was incredible. From the balcony, you can see toucans and so many other birds. Fantastic if you like nature. Breakfast is well organized and cool options. I highly recommend it.

United StatesWhile the food in the restaurant was good, I felt like it was better off the grounds. But this is trying to get an answer to this question. It wasn’t anything to complain about.
I liked the atmosphere, being right in the heart of great landscapes and the friendly, warm staff. I liked that it wasn’t a traditional boring high rise hotel.

SwitzerlandWould have liked to be able to get free coffee during the day in the restaurant, rather than get a plastic filled coffee bag with even more plastic inside every day. A bottle of sparkling water for the price of 8$ in the restaurant is in my eyes unacceptable and a complete ripoff.
Beds were really comfortable, very spacious, even with balcony and great view, very nice shower, pool area was nice

United StatesEverything was fantastic. It’s a bit away from the Fortuna city center—35 min walk or just a 5-min taxi drive. I didn’t mind because the hotel has everything and the excursion companies pick and drop off easily.
Truly an oasis. Volcano views right from my bed. It’s a luscious place, with lots of birds and tranquility. The hotel’s restaurant is delicious and their spa services are divine. Just a 2-min drive from La Fortuna waterfall (hotel staff can arrange a taxi). The waterfall is on the same hotel road. Grounds are pristine and the pool area and bar are fantastic. There’s a garden path that takes you right to the river. I can’t stress this enough—this hotel is divine. Safe, tranquil but not isolated, divine shower and high-quality toiletries. And the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and truly valued. Isaac at the restaurant and Karen at front desk were exceptional. Gracias!

FranceThe wifi was a bit low.
I loved everything about the experience - the hotel is superb, we arrived at 5pm and jumped directly into the hotel's hot tubs with hydro-massage to relax from the trip. The breakfast is great, the tours and activities proposed by the hotel are amazing - we tried a combo of visits for a whole day and were so pleased with the experience and the guide. The rooms are perfect, the commun areas are so beautiful, full of nature and plants. Overall a wonderful place.
