Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaBecause we were in the rainforest, there were lots of bug friends in the cabin, but that's to be expected - not much anyone could do about it. The wifi was spotty at times, but we knew that in advance and could go to the main office for better wifi when we needed to.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed all the meals we ate at the restaurant - the food was delicious! We also had a great time on the frog tour - the guide was amazing and we saw so many frogs!

United States of AmericaThe room can get very stuffy because the windows do not open. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, and the fan in the main room spun really slow and did not have a way to speed it up. Given how humid the environment is, they really need to allow opening windows with screen covers, and being able to increase the fan. Otherwise it gets really stuffy in the afternoon, and anything that is wet takes forever to dry. We went to the La Fortuna waterfall and it took an entire day for our swimsuits to dry in the room.
Staff is great, restaurant is well priced and the food is quite good. We did the night tour here and had a fantastic time seeing frogs and insects. Did not have any major bugs/mosquitoes in July. The ambience is lovely and the cottages are well spaced out so you have a lot of privacy and solitude.

Loved the setting and our lodge. Definitely a great place to stay out of town but near enough to get in when needed. Trips and tours were easy to arrange and the staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful.

United States of AmericaNo complaints!
I loved this hotel! It's a great location and has a nature preserve on site which is fantastic for hiking. I took their nighttime jungle tour and saw so many neat frogs and snakes! The hotel staff was also very accommodating when I needed to depart early and arranged for an early breakfast. The restaurant on site is nothing special but breakfast was enjoyable (I would recommend dinner elsewhere). I also arranged a massage and facial through the hotel at a local spa and it was really wonderful--do that as well if you have the time!

United States of AmericaThe cabin was a little dark and worn. The porch could use more comfy furniture - maybe just a cushion could help.
The location was nice - embeded in a jungle with a lovely walking path to enjoy. The included breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant food was tasty and reasonably priced. Nice to have a restaurant on site. The cabanas were cute and felt private. The kitchenette was nice to have. Staff was exceptional.

It is truly an Oasis. It was sleeping inside the middle of a tropical rain forest and the walks were beautiful and the gardens gorgeous. Would definitely stay again.

United States of AmericaStaying close to nature has its pros and cons. Expect noises during the night. Howler monkeys could be loud. Beds are OK, not super comfy. Wi-Fi signal drops off in some places (in the cabin).
Perfect location (close to la Fortuna) and a destination on its own (comparable or better than popular tourists park destinations) . We saw sloths, howler monkeys, lots of birds and frogs.

United KingdomGreat location, basic but very comfortable and clean lodge, close to local amenities and a short drive away from local attractions and experiences. A lovely breakfast overlooking the jungle, shared with an abundance of colourful birds and squirrels, was a great start to the day. Very friendly & helpful staff, just wish we'd stayed a little longer.

United KingdomEverything is damp as you're in the middle of a jungle. Not sure there's anything you can do about it. A price to pay for being close to nature.
Amazing to stay right in the rainforest and hear the sounds night and day. Staff are super friendly and so handy to do wildlife tours around the property. Saw frogs, snakes, monkeys and sloths. It felt like a real Costa Rican experience.

DenmarkThe lodges were a bit simple for our taste. Lighting was very white/sharp and not so cosy, the mosquito nets were damaged, so insects could enter the room, and also it would be nice if Wifi worked properly in the lodge.
Great location and private route in the jungle right next to the lodge. Good restaurant (both quality and prices) and nice staff.

GermanyThere was really nothing to complain about.
The little wooden house was in the middle of a tropical park, monkeys and birds could be heard in early morning and late afternoon hours. While breakfast, you could watch the birds coming to a little feeding station. Breakfast was very nice, fruits, good coffee and eggs were served. No luxury but in the middle of nature!

CanadaHonestly, can't say anything bad. We did not have a car so we didn't make the trek to the larger part of Fortuna as it was a bit far to walk, but we wanted a rainforest experience and we got it!
The property was absolutely beautiful, the family cabin was very comfortable and we were able to use the kitchen to cook our own simple meals (food purchased in town, the smaller part of Fortuna, a reasonable walk). The staff at the desk were very helpful. The restaurant was reasonably priced and delicious, good portions. They evenade is breakfast to go when we had to leave early in the morning. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the property, the hummingbird garden and the bird feeding areas. We even saw a sloth on the property.
