Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe only thing that could have been better for me is if I could have figured out how to operate the hot water in the shower. Because it is located in a residential area without a lot of options for dining and entertainment, those who do not have a car probably would not like it for a stay of more than one night.
The location is close to the airport. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed the Costa Rican breakfast and especially enjoyed sitting outside of my room and watching the hummingbirds take turns at the feeder.

The owners were super welcoming, picked us up at the airport when we arrived around 9 pm, chatted with us about Costa Rica, and provided a tasty local breakfast in the morning. We’ll definitely be staying here again the next time we’re in San Jose!

AustraliaWe needed a place to stay and relax from about 5pm to 11pm before our flight at 1am. This was perfect for that. Patricia was outside waiting for us when we arrived as it's a bit hard to find. It was quite close to the airport and within walking distance of where we rented our car so that was helpful. The room included free WIFI and a ride to the airport which was convenient (especially at that late hour).

United KingdomVery close to airport, but make sure you get a licensed taxi as it is a bit difficult to find. Alexander and Patricia are lovely people and we had a great home cooked breakfast. Patricia dropped us back at the airport for our car rental pick up. They gave us a great first impression of Costa Rica.

I loved the hearty breakfast, the backyard with lively birds, that it was walking distance to the City Mall, close to the airport and that the owner is also a taxi driver, so I had a flawless ride to San Jose. It was just so easy and a perfect way to settle in once I landed.

Patricia was so welcoming and responsive to my questions prior to arrival. Her place is lovely—spacious rooms and a relaxing patio in the back. It’s very convenient from the airport and had no trouble getting a taxi there. We slept wonderfully. She made a traditional Costa Rican breakfast to order and it was fantastic!

The owners are really friendly and accomodating. They gave us a lift to the airport. the place is 5 mins drive from the airport ( you can't walk there ). The room was big and the bed and pillows comfy. Big bathroom. Nice breakfast. They have a lovely little dog. Perfect stay the night before flying out.

United StatesThe place was a little tricky to find because there was no sign on the building but because it's their private home I understand why they would not want a sign. They were very responsive with the WhatsApp phone number which I was able to call while in the taxi.
Patricia and Alexander are very nice and kind people.. they communicated very quickly and responded to all of my questions. When the taxi driver dropped me off they were able to answer the phone to guide me into their home. I slept really well in the room I stayed in. Although there was no air conditioning the fan was really all I needed and I was able to open the window for extra fresh air Patricia gave me tea at night and made me a lovely breakfast in the morning. She also let me have as late of a checkout as I needed because I had a later flight to catch. The house was pretty cute with a nice little Garden in the back.

The breakfast was good, the hostess Patricia was delightful and very helpful. I needed a band-aid, and she went to the store and bought band-aids just so I could have one! Our vehicle was locked inside their compound as well which was reassuring.

Really a good experience. Patricia and her husband are really nice and serviceminded. We arrived at 2 am in the night but Patricia, was waiting for us. She made nice breakfast and the drove us to the carrental company. It's a perfect place for a short stay if you want to stay close to the SJO Airport
