We booked a room that clearly said it had a terrace and it did not. Then we had a bathroom outside the room locked with a padlock, and it was difficult to go in and out. The bathroom was quite dirty and dark. The facilities were not quite as nice as advertised.

The staff was so nice and the lobby area was a nice spot to meet people and drink coffee. Right on the beach.

This was an absolute surprise and perfect from start to finish. The family hosting this place is so loving and the place and the location just breathtaking! I started by reserving a room and then ended up sleeping on the last floor on just a mattress - so basic but the nature there is just incredible. steady waves and a bit of wind make it the perfect ambiance to sleep outside. No noise at all for cars as the place is located directly in front of the beach. I highly recommend you go there !

TBH we arrived late and it didn’t look great then, made our way up to the bedroom and it didn’t look much so maybe a bit of paint here and there and tidy up a bit….still can’t take away from waking up and looking out

Everything was very comfortable, the owner is very welcoming and take a good care of his hostel. We highly recommend the “deportivo” massage done by Rey, which is amazing value for the money, feeling relaxed, refreshed and it’s perfect for sore muscles. The breakfast is nice and the staff takes good care of you, providing a mosquito net for the night, it was very helpful. Perfect location on the beachfront! The view on the 2nd floor terrace with hammocks is the cherry on the cake.

Was amazingly calm, clean and such a great location, only accessible by bus from central Santa Marta but these are super accessible, regular and reasonably reliable. Next to a cool surf school too. Breakfast was always really good, just be aware, you can only pay the hostel by cash- there’s no cash points in the area so definitely allow for this and take plenty with you :) Area is super safe but rooms have no doors and the curtains blow open so if you’re staying in the room downstairs, it’s easy for people to see into your room the beach. But by far the best hostel on the beach there, really good vibes all round!

The communal toilet could use a door that locks (currently just a shower curtain). Take insect repellant and bathe in it frequently! The mosquitoes and sand flies are fierce and plentiful.

Steven who runs the place is amazing. He keeps it clean and makes some nice scrambled eggs, a BIG fruit bowl and strong coffee. The place is open to the elements - and that's why I ended up staying 5 nights. The sound of the sea is so soothing. Plus the bed was very comfortable. I slept like a baby. And the quiet location near the Mendihuaca River was perfect for swimming and chilling on the beach.

They don't have any wifi or electricity, which isn't a dislike it is just to keep it in mind. Plus you can't pay with card, and in this area there are no ATMs so either you have to have enough money for several days or you have a problem.

The breakfast was really nice and the candles at night were a nice romantic touch. The fact that there are no doors on the rooms is unique and nice to sleep to while listening to the waves. Also the hammocks on the third floor are really nice and comfy. The staff is helpful and very kind.

They charged us more than what we discussed (the booking.com price was fixed but we extended our stay) which is a no go. Also not all rooms had mosquito nets which is essential. Also the water didn’t work several times (= no showers and no toilet flushing) and they painted the floor which lead to us not being able to access our room for several hours without letting us know before hand (the paint smelled really chemically and we had to sleep in the probably toxic fumes).

The staff is really nice (but they charged what ever they felt like & don’t speak any English) and the hostel ist beautifully located at the beach. The breakfast is good as well although the portions are small.
