Towels could have been better, they weren't the best at soaking up the water.

The hotel looks amazing and it's in the centre of the ancient city! Staff was friendly and great, they spoke excellent English (best we heard during our entire trip). Rooms were comfortable and on overall amazing value for money.

Excellent location to walk in the old town, very quiet side road. Good beds and good quality linen. Owners speak good english and are helpful. Beautiful hotel lots of character. Good choice for breakfast (a la carte).

The bed was quite hard, but that's the only small issue we had during our stay

The hotel is located in the historical center, minutes away from the main road but without the noise. It's an old courtyard, amazingly restored. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved the place and our rooms!

The owners are extremely friendly and they speak English fantastically. The hotel itself looks like out of a movie, its inner courtyard s were beautiful. My room with a huge Kang bed was just incredible; I also liked the touch with the many plants in the room. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is also used as a photoshoot area so sometimes you would look out rhetorical window and see a whole group of people.

The location was perfect, right in the city center of the ancient city wall. The room was nice and spacious. The hosts are extremely nice and speak very good English. I would definitely recommend it!

The night was quite cold, so the room was not warm enough.

Staffs are very kind and helpful. Alipay and WeChat pay are available. Location is very good to go to major streets and popular places. Room was just as same as pictures introduced. I like the hard bed.

The hotel is used as a photoshoot area for people dressing up in traditional Chinese clothing (very popular activity in Pingyao), so there will probably be a photoshoot (or multiple) happening outside your window quite late into the evening. It can make the courtyards quite busy in the afternoon.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. It already looked pretty from the photos on the website, but it was somehow even more amazing in real life! The room was also very nice, and the location was great.

Room was very cold The second day, the room was left open after they did the cleaning. Nothing was missing, but it felt a bit scary at first when I arrived in the evening. They threw away my toothbrush (???) But the owner was kind enough to buy me another one.

Shower pressure could have been better!

Nice central location. Courtyard hotel with lots of character. English speaking hosts. Cheap meals on site. Arranged a safe and reliable driver to Mianshan mountain for a day trip.

The bed types we got were very hard, my husban and I were on a room with two beds, so we took the matress from one of them and place it on top of the second bed, that made it ok for us

The hotel building is beautiful grwat for pictures , all the dressed ladies in traditional clothing come here for photo sesions.The land lady is great and very friendly, she help us with issues with our wechat as well wss very flexible with breakfast choices and order a taxi for us to the train station in our way back, the hotel is in a great location to visit pingyao main historical buildings

I think before commenting anything remotely negative one should remember that with similar rates in other parts of the world you can barely get a bunk and a shared bathroom!

The owners are fluent English speakers, which I was not expecting and can make a whole trip experience much easier. They are also really nice and helpful. The location of the property is great, within the city walls and right off one of the main streets. It is not far from the wall gate on the west side, so it's easy to find even on your first trip. FYI they can arrange a pick-up for your departure with a car that is allowed indide the city walls. The courtyard atmosphere is magic and cannot be experienced staying at a standard hotel. Unbeatable value for money.
