We forgot to bring swimming caps. The prices for those in the hotel are way to much -160 RMB per hat.. Arriving at ouf hotel in Chengdu afterwards, we paid 40 rmb per hat only...

Kids bunker bed appreciate if can put thicker mattress. It’s really thin which I can feel the bed board. Service for doorman of hotel could be improved as well. Felt that his unfriendly.

Was staying in a family room and that little effort to be able to check in early in this season of winter was much a plus point for us. Room was cosy and big.

Breakfast mainly Chinese dishes, but also some Western style food. Good Coffee. Basically everything available and good quality. Rooms are OK and cleanliness is good. Would stay here again. There is a family mart located directly in the building which is quite convinient.

The only drawback was the bathroom in which one occasionally could smell cigarette smoke from some other room(s) because of the poor ventilation system.

The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10min walk from a metro station. What's particularly good about it is that the swimming pool is open until 9 or 10pm so one can have a swim in the evening and the water temperature is just about right. The breakfast is tasty and offers a decent choice. During our stay the staff were always very approachable and helpful and the cleaning service was excellent.

The wifi is a bit weak and spotty. The air conditioning is noisy. The fridge smelled faintly like spoiled eggs. The decor is past its prime, but still nice.

This hotel has the most amazing spread for breakfast I ever encountered. A very wide variety of tasty western and eastern food options. You just keep moving from table to table to table to table around a large food hall. Exploring them was an enjoyable experience by itself. Great air-conditioning, robot couriers for food delivery (it is fun to travel beside a robot in the elevators), dedicated service. The first bed in a series of apartments and hotels where I got out of bed with my back in a better state than when I went into it. Free access to a swimming pool and hot pool, but bring your sw8mming cap or else you have to buy a very uncomfortable one for £10. There is even a good little corner shop inside the hotel, with a variety of ready made food, that they will even put in the microwave for you and give it to you with paper towel and chopsticks. Overall an absolutely relaxing and comfortable experience.

Here's a revised version of your review: My recent stay at the Holiday Inn Shanghai was unfortunately marred by several issues. Despite booking a non-smoking room, the lingering smell of cigarettes from previous guests made the stay quite uncomfortable. Despite raising this concern with the staff, it seemed that little effort was made to address the issue promptly. Additionally, the room itself was a far cry from what was depicted in the advertisements. It appeared old and worn-out, with noticeably smaller dimensions than advertised. This discrepancy was disappointing, as I had expected a more modern and spacious accommodation based on the promotional material. In addition, we were further marred by the lack of English-speaking staff at the swimming pool area. Despite my attempts to use the pool, I encountered communication difficulties with the attendant, who seemed frustrated by our language barrier. His instructions were unclear, and as a result, I was unable to enjoy the pool facilities. This added to my frustration during the stay and detracted from the overall experience at the hotel. Overall, while the Holiday Inn Shanghai offers a somewhat convenient location, my experience was significantly impacted by these shortcomings in room cleanliness and quality.

The location is not too bad, some of the front reception staff was friendly.
