Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThis is on of my favourite hostels I ever went to.! I’m a solo female traveller and met great travellers here. I booked a private room and it was spotless and beautiful! The hostel has free coffee service from 10am to 6pm and free g&t or wine from 8pm to 10pm. The staff is friendly and very helpful. One of them remembers your name and your preferred coffee choice which is impressive I think. The location is near the Muslim quarter where you can walk around and get some lovely food.

United StatesJust something to note, and not really a ding -- this is not really a social hostel experience. There are not a ton of young people, many more families and couples. I think this is because the hotel is so nice. We wanted to stay in hostels for the social environment but I'd stay here for the design and the luxury, not in order to meet other travelers. Because the hostel is an alley that is more narrow, taxis will ask to drop you off on the bigger street. Maybe you'll have more luck than us in trying to get closer to the hostel!
The whole place is absolutely gorgeous. Really comfortable and luxurious. The rooms are beautifully designed and really lovely from top to bottom. If you're a fan of minimalist design, you'll really enjoy this place. The lobby is smaller but sublime -- but the best parts are the outdoor spaces, which are marvelously designed: the courtyard with the giant bird cage, and the best of all, the outdoor rooftop. Plenty of shade to make it OK to use during hot Xi'an summer days. In general, this hotel really has the feeling of a luxury hotel. It is really just beautiful but small enough so that you still get that white-glove experience from staff. The staff are also really accommodating and will try hard to make sure requests are executed. They gave us a ton of fantastic recommendations and helped my traveling companion and I acclimate to the pace and speed of China. The location is also really good -- in the northwest quadrant of the Xi'an Old City, right across the street from a very famous large pedestrian street, and just two or so blocks from the Clock Tower, and a 15/20 minute walk or Didi from the Muslim quarter to the west or the South Gate to the West. There is a convenient bus just five minutes away that goes directly to the Terracotta Warriors for just 30RMB one way per person and leaves every half an hour. Get there early to sit on the top deck. If you are daring, get tuktuks, which in many of the smaller side streets, end up being much more convenient than taxis! In my opinion -- the breakfast was excellent. It wasn't an insane hot bar, but there was a good mix of Chinese buns and hot dishes and Western style classics like cereal, fruit, toast, and eggs and meat. I personally enjoyed this breakfast a lot, haha!

United KingdomWish we'd found the rooftop terrace and tea rooms earlier.
Sadly, we had only booked to stay with the Hantang Inn for two nights, but Xi-An and the hotel have been the favourite part of our trip so far. With a great, central location it was an easy stroll to the Muslim Quarter, and a simple, single Metro stop to the South Gate. The tour of the Terracotta Army that the hotel both recommended and organized was ideal. All the staff were friendly and we loved the evening happy hour where guests were encouraged to join for a courtesy G&T or glass of wine. The simple, modern design provided a calming, chilled oasis and seemed to manage the summer heat effectively. We were only sorry we didn't discover the roof terrace and tea rooms until the last morning.

United StatesThe Hostel is on a busy residential street with several small eating spots and shops—we felt safe at all hours.
A wonderful attentive staff, a solid breakfast, happy hour every night 8-10, cold drinks and beer available all the time, cold bottled water (free) available in coolers throughout the hostel, very comfortable beds. Within walking distance of shops, important places to visit (like the Muslim quarter), and restaurants. Highly recommended.

ItalyEverything more than perfect.
One of the best accommodations I have ever been. The staff is amazing and helpful, the facility is tasteful in every detail. You have all the amenities you could wish for. Great position in the center, close to the metro. Breakfast in the morning, coffee in the afternoon, a drink in the evening are offered. The shared room has very comfortable beds and a very nice bathroom. Impeccable cleanliness. Impossible to find better, can't wait to come back.

SingaporeThe lack of wardrobe. There is space only for 4 hangers and clothes wall hooks.
It’s an escape from the bustling outside world. Once one steps into the hotel and behind the closed doors, it is as if one is transported to another world of serenity and tranquility. It’s simply unbelievable. It has the most modern devices from the most high end speakers at the common lounge playing soothing jazz music to the projectors in the room and the toilets. Every little design is a result of a thoughtful design process. The rooms are not big yet they are very well designed for great functionality down to the wall power points and usb charging. Breakfast is simple yet very delicious and healthy!!! Love it!!! The special treats of afternoon snacks, coffees and teas are certainly pleasing, so are the evening cocktails. The whole environment in the common areas is unbelievably cosy, relaxed and considerate. For 2 evenings, we ordered in bbq and stir fried dishes from the neighbouring shops to dine at the courtyard. What evenings were those!

CanadaEverything exceeded my expectations. It was the highlight of our trip to China.
A truly exceptional boutique inn, right in the heart of Xian. It’s on a quiet alley that comes alive at night with a delightful little BBQ restaurant that delivers food you can enjoy in the breakfast area. There’s a Japanese vibe, complete with a formal tea house on the fourth floor where you sit on the floor and listen to jazz music as you sip white tea at no extra cost! There’s a simple free breakfast, but they also offer free cappuccinos throughout the day. At night they offer a free glass of wine or gin and tonic, also in their breakfast area, where guests can sit together and chat about their travels. The name of the hotel suggests this is a youth hostel but it isn’t like any other youth hostel I’ve ever stayed at. They do have a few hostel rooms, but most of the rooms are private single or doubles. The beds are very comfortable, there’s air conditioning and video projectors in every room, and even Toto toilets with a remote control with a bidet function! The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Everything about this place is first class, even though it has an off-the-beaten-path quality. I visited in May 2024 with my wife and son. It is one of the highlights of our visit to China. I should add that the place was recently renovated and everything feels brand new. The pictures in some of the other reviews are out of date.

United StatesNothing, everything exceeded my expectation
I was surprised at this hostel: everything is superb: it is near the Bell Tower and the metro station. The staff was welcoming and very helpful, especially Emmy. The installations were excellent, clean. They have free fruit and refreshments. The common area is very comfortable and they even have an area where they keep colorful birds which add an extra touch of homeliness when they sing. The dorm room has 2 bunks made of wood, with private bathroom. Large lockers and a desk. The beds are very comfortable and clean. On the 4th floor there is a library and a tea house, surrounded by jazmin with its fragrance. There is wifi in all the rooms. Breakfast was very good and is included. Also, they allow you the use of washing and drying machines. All in all, it is the best hostel that I know and felt sorry to leave since I was so comfortable.
