Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe only thing that made it rather unpleasant was the strong smell of smoke on the premises, even near rooms and dining areas.
Slightly dated but definitely clean and neat. The lobby was also very clean and nice.

Hong KongDark rooms which was tired and worn out including the gym-pool changing rooms Non-existent WiFi. Noisy reception area where bedrooms are open next to. Breakfast room coffee: guests reliant on one slow machine which there is long queue during peak times
Location: quiet private area with shared pool facilities with Sofitel hotel. Rooms: small but clean and comfortable. We requested rooms close to one another and they put us in opposite sides of the reception area which was very noisy, I’d requested a quiet room and they place wasn’t full. Breakfast was decent choice , a mix of western and Chinese foods available but one coffee machine for the whole place so be prepared to wait during peak times! Or have water/ soy milk which is readily avail able Dining room and pool staff were polite and helpful. Pool was good to have in this hot weather and not too busy. Have to wear a swimming cap which they provided as we didn’t know about this this rule. The changing rooms are old and very tired. We did like the general ambience of the location but the hotel does need refreshing.

United KingdomUpon arrival non of my credit cards were accepted despite having been accepted in other parts of China. This meant having to pay by AliPay and a surcharge due to the amounts involved. The dining room had only one coffee machine which meant queues to get a hot drink sometimes. The Grand Mercure Xian is a lovely old building in wonderful grounds, but unfortunately the inside decor and furniture needs updating, its all a little tired.
I had a multiple room suite provided thanks to an upgrade upon arrival and the bedroom was quiet. There was a very good gymnasium and swimming pool provided in the next building 3 minutes walk away. The breakfast was good, Chinese cuisine dominating, however, there was still plenty of Western style dishes available. The hotel staff were really friendly and welcoming.

United KingdomThe heating in my room was way too hot and extremely uncomfortable. I turned on the air conditioning at its lowest setting but this made no difference. I had to keep the window open all night despite the temperature being around freezing point outside.
Location is very convenient, staff were very helpful. Lovely hotel. Breakfast was ok but a bit limited. For example All Bran was available on first day but not after that.

AustraliaThe breakfast was mediocre and not really worth the CNY 95. Worst is that the photo you see on the hotel page on booking.com is actually showing the much better breakfast of the nearby Sofitel, which is CNY 168, so substantially more expensive. Every time you go out the hotel you first have to walk hundreds of meters to get off the compound. There's only one exit, all the other ones are locked, which means you often make a significant detour when walking. There are basically no facilities whatsoever within 500 meters. Most things you have to walk up to a kilometer for. The fridge in the room was not working, which is pretty annoying when it's 34 degrees outside.
The value of the room was extraordinarily good. I paid less than AUD 75 / USD 50 per night (non-refundable, no breakfast) for a super king room. The bed was the largest I ever slept in and was comfortable. The room was very pleasant to stay in. It's nice to have swimming pool on the premises, although it was slightly dalipidated.

BrazilProperty relied on adjacent hotels for gym, pool and other services. Restaurant was a buffet breakfast only. Getting in at 10 pm no food, no drinks, room refrigerator empty. Only warm bottled water

ChinaNo major negative point !
The hotel was designed & used by the Russian at the time they helped China to build some infrastructure. It's located in the center, not far away from points of interest. The bed is of great size, and very comfortable. The breakfast has a choice of plates which should make happy the family. The swimming pool and sauna were open at the time of my visit.

United KingdomNothing we didn't like.
The staff were amazingly helpful and really took care of us. We felt very at home during our stay which was just what we needed on our honeymoon. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. They not only upgraded our room but also decorated it with fresh fruits, a heart shaped mouse, flowers, petals and swans on the bed and a large bow up heart balloon. They even drew us pictures how amazingly personal is that. The room was always made up for us. The hotel is very clean all round and quiet. As it sits in gates of its own hotel park, it is quiet compared to the busy surroundings. There are also English speaking staff that helped us when we needed it. They helped with adding a bag to our flight home, which we could not have done without them. Thank you all very much for a fantastic stay we cant recommend this hotel enough. Also it is in a great location and close to many subways, with plenty of food places a short walk away.
