The hotel provided a clean and well-maintained room. A small amenity was left on the table, which was a nice gesture. Overall, Villa Maria is a good option for travelers seeking a basic, clean hotel stay. It won't blow you away, but it gets the job done.

There was some noise from the street when the windows were open, but this cannot be avoided in such a location. The service was a little inconsistent: sometimes I got two coffee capsules, sometimes one (two per would have been appreciated). The check-in process didn't really work. I had to phone the reception in the other location. When it's quiet at night, you can hear steps in the neighbouring room. No tv in the room - not a problem, but sometimes I kinda like to have it on.

The bathroom was new and comfortable, with nice toiletries provided. There was a coffee/tea maker in the room and a few free items in the minibar. The bed was large and comfortable. European sockets are installed on the desk. Swiss ones are close to the bed, easy to use. The room location on the more quiet side and with windows on two sides was lovely. Of course, I appreciated the view to the mountains and the lake. Location is great: close to the lake and a few steps from the bus stop or a 15 mins walk to the town centre.

The room was big enough for a couch which would have added to the comfort and allowed us to enjoy the lake views.

Great location, close to bus station. Generous minibar, snacks and fruit provided for free. Accede to well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook for yourself. Access to lounge area and tv downstairs. We were able to check in early before returning our hire car which made life very easy.

Some pictures on the wall were very ugly, for me it didn't really bother me, but I can imagine that for some people it might even be a bit disturbing. The bed mattress was a bit too soft for my taste, but that is really personal preference, I guess.

We didn't have the best room on the front, but it was probably the cheapest, which suited us. The aircon unit was big and noisy, but effective in the heat. Options for tea and coffee were provided for just one person. Communications and check-in didn't run smoothly for me. I felt I was an inconvenience. Everything was supposedly automated, but it didn't work as expected. They were confident, but I was concerned. However, it did work out ok in the end. I would stay again.

Great location, close to regular bus service that was easy to use. We also had a pleasant 20-minute walk into Luzern alongside the lake, away from the road. It was nice to have the fridge stocked with complimentary beer, water, and soft drinks. There was also fresh fruit available in the lobby and snacks in our room. Better than most hotels!

The self-check-in process didn't go well.

The room was tidy and clean. And it has a beautiful neighborhood. Not too far from the city center (20 min walk along the lakeside took me to the center) but also enough far to be quiet.

Description of “lake view” should have read “partial lake view”. The lake was to the side of the room, partly obscured.

Nice location, near (but not on) lakeside, easy to get into town centre on public transport (free travel for hotel guests). Clean, spacious, comfortable room.

Sloping ceilings so may be something to think about but it didn’t bother my husband and I at all.

The location at the end of the Luzern promenade on the lake was amazing! Room 9 had a great patio with a gorgeous view of the lake. One of the only small hotels we stayed in that had AC (portable unit). Given it was 30 degrees, that was much appreciated!

The road next to the hotel can be a bit noisy.
