Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe Victorian nature of the decoration, clearly unchanged from when it was built, and the aged and over-bearing presence of the ‘patron’ sitting in the corner of the dining room and purveying all who entered, dined, or worked there.
A weird anachronism of a hotel, feeling a little more like a museum, but superbly located - and with a view across the lake to forgive everything.

NetherlandsVery occasionally you get served in a restaurant by someone who understands. Teddy is such a person. But so are the others in Victoria's restaurant. Great staff. We were there with our 1-year-old baby for dinner, which can be stressing, but Teddy made it a successful evening for us. The hotel was great as always. They manage to keep the old and great atmosphere.

United KingdomNo tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
A wonderfully-preserved 19th-century hotel with an amazing view over Lake Geneva. Top class restaurant, excellent bar area and a lovely pool.

United KingdomMy comfortable room was beautifully decorated but the tiny ensuite bathroom (clearly carved out of the original room) was more suited to a two-star hotel than four. I could forgive this in the context but in any other circumstances would have regarded this as a major complaint. Tea and coffee-making facilities in the room would have been appreciated.
A magnificent, characterful, nineteenth-century hotel in an excellent state of preservation standing 2500ft above Montreux with correspondingly wonderful views across the lake. Excellent outdoor pool. Lovely period bar and restaurant, the outdoor section of the latter allowing full appreciation of the view while dining. Lovely (if correspondingly expensive) meals.

IrelandMaybe the bathroom in my room could do with a bit of a refurbishment. It's a bit old-fashioned - and not in a particularly good way.
This is a wonderful privately owned and operated hotel. It makes a change from the sameness of the multiples. Waiters are in white jackets and bows with excellent customer service. The location itself is a little village in its own right up a steep hill overlooking Montreux and the lake. The view in the morning is the most magnificent view I have ever had while enjoying breakfast. Staff are friendly, especially Jasmine, on reception. This hotel represents old world values in the best possible sense.

United StatesEverything was great; we were not unhappy with anything.
The hotel has an amazing location above the lake. The view is lovely. The grounds are wonderful, with beautifully kept plantings. We hosted our family for a dinner on the terrace, and it could not have been more wonderful. The food was great, the staff were attentive, and the view was truly beautiful. The breakfasts were also held on the same terrace and were absolutely delicious. Our room was spacious and very comfortable and had a wonderful view as well. I was thrilled to have a bathtub, as I had been missing them on our trip. I also loved the attentiveness of the staff with the turn down service and so forth. We really loved staying here; it is one of our favorite memories of a rather long Switzerland trip!

United StatesWe drove our own car and the drive up is not for the weak of heart! Very tight turns with blind spots, so be very careful! Once we got to the property, parking was very limited but I suppose it was due to bad timing on our part as it was a Friday afternoon and the restaurant was booming. Later in the day I was able to move my car and find a great parking spot.
Everything about our stay was exceptional. The staff was so helpful and accommodating and our room was spectacular - so spacious with two bathrooms and a sitting area. We spent so much time on our balcony overlooking Lake Geneva and almost didn't want to go sightseeing because it was so relaxing and beautiful. Bonus - the sunsets both nights were absolutely amazing!

It was an absolutely stunning hotel with so much character. They had prepared a bed for my children in the room which was great! The food was unbelievable but be warned the restaurant at the hotel is very very nice lol. My husband brought down the class a level when he went with my daughter to get dinner for us and he had a collard shirt and nice jeans lol!

United KingdomVery dated bathroom, no air conditioning and breakfast was a somewhat disappointing (in terms of choice and service). It is a lovely building but the overall decor is an assault to the senses - feels more like a dated, over the top museum than a classy or traditional hotel. The art, ornaments, furniture are excessive so it makes it difficult to notice and appreciate individual pieces.
The location was perfect. The views are absolutely stunning - really breathtaking. The grounds and garden are beautifully maintained, friendly staff. Also handy to be given a voucher for free local transport and discount on local attractions. The hotel is only a few minutes walk away from Glion station but they very kindly arranged to pick us up and take us back (very handy with the luggage)
