Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom1. The noise. Corridors are void of items making them echo chambers when closed off; late people let doors shut which bang; there was a bus stop right outside my window, so busses pulling up, stopping, had diesel engines idling; the church bells chime every hour and every 15 minutes at night. 2. Hotel lockdown. At night the hotel is locked up. The stairs are not accessible and the lift goes up only. Was let in late at night, lift to first floor, then door key didnt work - impossible to return downstairs. Lift will not descend, doors locked. Finally found an exit to street, walked back around to front of the Hotel, knocked to be let in again, had key card reset, lift back up and finally in after 30 minutes. 3. Checking in after 1400 my room was not ready for another 30 minutes, so had to wait in bar. 4. No window curtain but a drape that stretched across the entire front of room floor to ceiling covering surface, corner light, coffee machine, hangers from ceiling (no wardrobe), chair/desk - a pain when wanting to work or get a drink!
the hotel has a good jazz theme and has good character. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the evening bar staff. The bar setting is nicely themed. Complementary welcome drink was a nice touch. Nespresso machine good inclusion.

RomaniaSuper small rooms. I travel with 2 suitcases, it was challenging to make them fit in the room. Also, if you go into town, there is a hill to climb in order to get back to the hotel.
Very quiet location, and the rooms were very clean

United KingdomEvening food service was a bit chaotic. We stayed out of peak season and there was limited staff on duty trying to cope with food orders and check ins simultaneously. However, they realised the problem and offered complimentary drinks while we waited.
Excellent view from the room over the lake and mountain and good location. Easily accessible on foot from station but worth taking bus if you have heavy luggage! It is uphill! Very helpful staff who were concerned that you were happy. Good advice on using public transport. Great choice of food at breakfast.

United KingdomLugging a suitcase uphill, rather than taking the bus from the train station, was tiring. My fault, not theirs, but some advance mention that the walk (15 minutes) is uphill would have helped guide me. The food was good, and good value for Montreux (which is expensive even by Swiss standards) but could have had more vegetables included with the dishes.
The service was good and helpful, particularly from the friendly Elva at the bar. The position in the Old Town was charming and the room was fine. Spotify music was good, though the bar was quieter than expected.

honeymoon free upgrade to the highest room type (206->402) and a complimentary bottle of wine. It takes about 5 minutes by bus to get there, and it's very convenient as the bus stop is just around the corner. There’s a restaurant downstairs offering paid breakfast and dinner. The manager is very friendly, and the staff member is a Chinese woman who is also very nice. It's a 10-minute walk to Lake Geneva, and the bathroom has a bathtub, plus there’s a small balcony and a capsule coffee machine.

GreeceRooms were a bit small and furnishings were not optimal (e.g. hangers next to the window on an open space / no wardrobe). The bathroom fan seems broken so moisture doesn't effectively leave the bathroom unless you keep the door open and the bedroom window open.
Super helpful staff (even helped me organise a same day dentist appointment as one of my fixtures has a problem), great location in the middle of the old city (but needs some walking to get to the train station and most of the shops).

United KingdomNothing. The rooms don’t have air con which might be a problem, but it was in the high 20’s during our stay and we were fine.
Its location in the old town. Bus from town centre stops outside the door, or it’s a 10-15 minute walk to the centre or lake shore.

SwitzerlandThe room was technically weird....very few power sockets, all far away from the bed, the sinks with mixer, and the bed lamps connected to no switches we had to unplug for the night (one being plugged behind the bed which forced us to move it). Maybe they need to renovate to make the room more user friendly ^^'

United Arab EmiratesLocation was on a steep hill with the town centre at the bottom, we would have picked a hotel closer to the train station and the centre of town if we went again. I appreciate the hotel had a musical/stage theme but the rooms design took the theme too literally making the room very impractical - the curtain for instance, like a stage curtain but in front of the desk area where all the sockets were so once shut you couldn't access any sockets or the only means of cooling the room, a small desk fan.
The staff were helpful and breakfast was pleasant

United KingdomBreakfast not included and at a nearly £500 price tag for two nights I find this unacceptable. Breakfast is an extra €25 each and it was a rather basic continental spread. Were told on check in our breakfast times so assumed included as not told it would be additional. Luckily we found out who’re we started eating. Lumpy pillows Coffee etc not replaced daily. Small amount to start with. Not fresh milk Informed 206 buses ran until 2am by reception when in fact they finished at 8 pm
Clean Quirky decor Fourth floor suite was what I would class as a normal sized double room. Good sized fridge Parking nearby was good/ secure. Tram and bus nearby
