We were initially allocated a tiny room with no storage or hanging space for clothes which made it impossible to unpack our bags.

After pointing out our disappointment with our original room allocation we were offered a far more acceptable alternative by the very helpful staff. This made a huge difference to our stay.

There was no place to put your bathroom essentials that you bring with you. We had to use the desk outside the bathroom.

I had paid for a superior room but was given one on the first floor, where my 'private terrace' looked onto a concrete block over twenty stories high (Montreux's worst eye sore) and another lower one, with a glimpse of lake between the two. I asked to be moved immediately and was told it wasn't possible that night but might be the next day. Next day I was told the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't move me at all (not even for the Sunday night I was staying). The upper floors are clearly much better, and it was a shame one of those wasn't available - although my room was large I wouldn't call it 'superior' on any level. Make sure you insist on one of the upper floor rooms with a balcony.

This is a historic hotel in the city centre, a few minutes walk from Lake Geneva, fantastic location for exploring the city. I understand people complaining here about it being tired and in need of updating but I found the old-fashioned decor rather charming. I'd rather that than an anonymous corporate hotel any day. I wasn't offered a Wi-Fi password when I checked in and didn't bother asking as I only had a short stay, so I've no idea if that was any good but I had the breakfast on one morning and it was a perfectly adequate continental breakfast.

Delayed check in due to room not being ready. We were told 10mins but it was almost an hour further of waiting. The room still wasn’t ready, so we ended up taking another room. People kept arriving, checking in and going straight to their rooms which was a bit disheartening so some sort of communication after the initial 10min or even 20min of waiting would have been nice, just to explain why there was still a delay. Offering a glass of water or coffee whilst we waited would have also been courteous.

Good location. Easy to get to from station. Nice balcony with awning that was big enough for two. Partial views of the lake which was only about a 5min walk.

Location is approx 15min walk from train station. We had a view of Lake Geneva from our balcony which was a bonus. The room was very big, as was the bathroom. The bathroom was very clean and modern. Due to the age of the building the room had a lot of character.
