A little far from railway station

Nice and beautiful hotel .A little far from railway station but we can get a bus easily. We booked Junior suit for 3 peoples.A big room with 2 bathrooms make me more comfortable . We don’t have much time so did not walk along the lake beside our rooms .Nice and helpful reception. We will come back again.

Whilst there was a fridge in the room it could not be plugged in or opened so unusable. I think the hotel would benefit from removing the fridge and stating in their room descriptions that there is no minibar/fridge. They would refrigerate medicines/baby food etc for you but it’s very inconvenient not to have your items handy in the room. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice.

Very spacious room with two (!) bathrooms, and unbearable views of the garden and lake. We were on the ground floor and loved being able to stroll right out our patio door to the lake, or into the center of town. We also loved the well-equipped exercise room and the full-sized lap pool! The included breakfast is varied and delicious, and the cozy restaurant (dining room overlooking the lake) serves an excellent dinner. We enjoyed our first dinner there so much we went back the next night! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The decor is dated as other guests have noted — particularly the carpet which is badly in need of replacing. But overall this is a wonderful, charming hotel and a great value for the money.

The hotel room, despite being very clean was very tired and in need of decoration and new carpet. Also the lack of facilities in the room was disappointing, we couldn’t even make a cup of tea!

One of the toilets in our room was unstable. It was not well attached to the floor and would wobble anytime someone sat down.

The size of the room was great as well as the small patio area. Breakfast was very nice.

The hotel absolutely needs the following: Carpets replaced Fixtures upgrades/replaced (bathroom fittings, tiling etc, rusty taps) Nicer flooring on the balcony

The hotel is overdue an update. It is tired and dated. Original booking was for a twin room. We arrived to a double. After much waiting the hotel finally added an additional bed. This meant the room was cramped. It would have been nice to have direct access to the lake.

Hotel is well located on the lake with easy access to the lake and town. Great view. Service was good to correct an issue with the booking arrangement.

This hotel was beautiful and the location on the water was great. We were able to walk out of our room and be on the water/walk in 30 seconds. The hotel room was very large and had a great outdoor sitting area.

An anti-slip mat would have been a good idea. I didn’t ask for one so it may have been provided if I had. No tissues. Shower head needed to be replaced.

The view from our room was spectacular! The room itself was large with a comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast good.

Plumbing like Granny’s house. No terrace for eating or drinking when directly next to the lake. Boasts eco credentials but replaces towels every day and damask napkins every meal.

Hotel du Grand Lac Excelsior opens onto the lake. You can sit on the beautiful balcony of your oom overlooking the lake, and when you are too hot, take the elevator to the groundfloor in your costume, and within 15 meters you are in the lake. So as far is location this is amazing. It’s also a little bit away from the center but with free bus rides anywhere in the region and bus stop 200 meters from the hotel, it’s perfect. There were a few notes I would like to add, for a 4 star hotel, I would expect a good quality mattress. I had back ache after 3 nights with a very concave mattress in the room sadly, but I did not feel like I wanted to complain and spoil my own time, so I endured it. Minor issues in our room, basin did not drain quickly. Shower head kept flopping so you had to hold it up to get the shower on your head. These can be fixed easily. Each room has aircon but the aircon machine is outside on the balcony and this is noisy. For first 2 nights I could not understand the loud humming sound outside our room even though the lake appeared so still and quiet. I then discovered it was the neighbouring room aircon, as we had not used our room aircon yet. I’m not sure how this could be upgraded but it was a bit disturbing. There were also people smoking on the balcony in rooms below us and the smoke filtered into the room whilst we were trying to sleep. I tried to call reception but could not get through, might be my user error on my part. We absolutely loved our stay here though. The breakfast was a lovely spread, options for vegetarian and vegan. I would not return if the beds had not been upgraded, but if they were upgraded, I would return in a flash. The location is truly spectacular.
