Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVery friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast but didn't try the dinner. Rooms are rustic and small, but private and quite acceptable for a ski lodge. Fun, eclectic property with ping pong and gathering spaces.

United StatesWengen is a great place to stay in the Swiss Alps! It is not accessible by car, so if you want a real quality and genuine experience, Wengen is the place. Hotel Edelweiss has a great staff, and the beds are comfortable. Plus there's a lift, so it is 100% accessible to all. The rooms are small but absolutely quiet and emaculately clean. Very cozy, with a great view and a little balcony for a superb wake up in the Alps. There's plenty of amenities at the site, lots of them free (coffee, tea, breakfast). Thank you Thomas, Sarah, and the whole staff at Edelweiss for making my trip to the Alps unforgettable!

NetherlandsShampoo could be better. This one made my hair heavy. WiFi was sometimes slow or not loading.
Everything was perfect, it was a very cozy place. Very clean and comfortable, felt at home. I like the warm-toned interior decor. Staff: extremely helpful and welcoming, they asked travel plans and provided useful tips and maps. I was recommended by Randa to go to Männlichen as that would be the last day of operation before winter maintenance, it was a very beautiful place, thanks Randa! Food: breakfast was good and had all basic but enough choices. Dinner was very nice, 4-course and reasonably priced. Everyday there was a different menu. Everyday the chef asked every table how the food was at the end of a dinner. Waitresses and waiters were attentive and approachable. Kudos to them. Room cleaning staff: my belongings were respected and room was cleaned very well, thank you too. Location: close to the train station, easy to find if follow the way. It’s a mountain area so different road layouts, I took some time to find it when I arrived, I was kindly helped by a local. After that I never got lost. Quiet surroundings with nice views. The best is many cats in the neighbourhood:)

United StatesJust a bit bare-bones but clean and such a warm and welcoming place that it didn’t really matter!
A lovely family run accommodation - the staff is warm and welcoming and the location is great although a bit tricky with luggage. The rooms have a charming alpine aesthetic- the beds are comfortable but a bit small by American standards. The bathroom was tiny - the deck outside the BR was wonderful. Overall, I would totally recommend this hotel for an authentic Alpine experience.

United KingdomNot applicable.
The staff were superb and spoke English which helped with communication. The 4 course dinner was excellent, everything that I am able to eat, and prepared with love. My room was upgraded at no additional cost and the view of the snow capped mountains was breathtaking. This is Switzerland at its core. Very comfortable room, bed, shower. A coffee machine was on tap with little bites and Lemon and Mint water. Highly recommended. Thank you Daniel and all the staff.

CanadaThe bathroom is cozy but functional.
The entire group of hosts were wonderful. The night we arrived, Daniel hosted a wine and cheese tasting, along with a chat about Switzerland. Wonderful! We opted for breakfast and dinner which were amazing (especially the soups). Wengen was a great spot to get to all the great hiking locations as well and we appreciated all the advice about the best hikes in the area. The sauna was greatly appreciated after long walks.

Tomas and Randa were so helpful with planning and incredibly friendly and welcoming. had an absolutely perfect stay at Hotel Edelweiss in Wengen. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Randa, who not only made me feel right at home but also gave me excellent advice on how to make the most of the daylight hours I had left. One of the highlights was the nightly dinner at the hotel, where they serve four incredible courses. The fondue, which needs to be pre-ordered, was truly outstanding. Tomas and Randa were present at each dinner, treating every guest with such kindness and personal attention. Tomas even remembered my name each time he saw me, which added a really special touch to my stay. My room was spotless and very comfortable, and breakfast each morning was a delight, with the sweet and wonderful Sarah ensuring everything was perfect. On the day I left, Tomas went above and beyond by walking me out, making the farewell just as warm as the welcome. I can’t recommend Hotel Edelweiss enough—Randa, Tomas, and Sarah made this an unforgettable stay. I’ll definitely be returning!

United KingdomNothing, bearing in mind the cost and value for money.
For location, views, comfort, service and value for money the Hotel Edelweiss is excellent. It is a quite steep downhill walk from Wengen Station and therefore steeply uphill back to the station. The Männlichen Gondola is a few minutes further up more gentle slopes. I stayed in a single room and was delighted to be upgraded to a room with a balcony on arrival. As this was on the top floor, the views were magnificent of the Lauterbrunnen valley - almost as good as the views from the famous benches at Wengen church. The hotel has several lounge areas, one of which includes a coffee machine, which makes up for the lack of coffee and tea making facilities in the room. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of fresh and tasty food. Dinner was a 4 course set menu, with vegetarian and vegan options. The dinners couldn’t be described as gourmet, but I enjoyed each of the 4 I had during my stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, without being over-friendly. They picked up that I am not the most mobile and helped with the breakfast buffet, with sensitivity. Finally, the value for money - bearing in mind we are talking about an expensive region or an expensive country - was excellent. I booked the Hotel Edelweiss based on previous customer feedback and its very high rating. After my stay I can say that those previous customers were entirely correct.

United KingdomHaving to leave!!!
This was our first visit to Switzerland and we were blown away with the stunning scenery and friendliness of the people.. Our holiday was made even more special thanks to the wonderful 11 night stay at the fantastic Hotel Edelweiss in Wengen, where we were looked after extremely well during our stay, the attention paid to all the guests was exemplary, so with good food, cleanliness and a friendly and helpful welcome we would recommend a stay to all. A huge thanks to Daniel, the owner, with his ethos, "Come as stranger, leave as a friend" and thank you Tomas, Claudia, Sarah, Matthias, Ranada and all the staff for making our stay special, we will be back.

United StatesSwitzerland in general is very expensive, and the hotel mirrors this trend. We would stay longer if the prices were lower.
The facility itself is beautiful, nicely renovated with tasteful, modern design. The location is excellent for day trips on either side of the valley. Daniel (owner) is so much involved in the day-to-day operation and makes sure everyone is welcomed and cared-for. The entire staff is wonderful. We interacted with Ronda and Thomas they made us feel at home. The food is delicious. We enjoyed breakfasts and dinners there.

CanadaThere was nothing we didn’t like but for information the bathroom we had was very compact.
Tomas, Daniel and the staff are exceptional, you are treated like family. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area and will make sure you have the perfect visit. They offer dinner most nights and it was delicious and very reasonable for the 4 courses. They had a wine and cheese tasting while we were there, it was exceptional we learned a lot about the region and tasted cheese from Daniel’s own cow.

United StatesI asked for a second pillow, as one was not enough support for me. Staff kindly brought an additional one directly to me and with nothing but a pure smile on their face and laughter in their voice.
From the moment I entered Hotel Edelweiss, I felt at home and at ease. Not only is the space arranged and maintained for comfort, but the staff is genuinely engaged with your presence. For example, Daniel, the proprietor happily greets guests with good mornings over homemade breakfast (including two-year cheese from a neighbor!). He is pleased to offer any advice or find answers to your questions for your daily adventures before you set out for the day. Stay at Hotel Edelweiss if you are looking for an experience that welcomes you to Wengen, the Alps, and fellow travelers as a heartfelt community.
