Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThere's no particularly significant downsides, rather some minor annoyances that didn't ruin anything for us. The breakfast - perhaps as a contrast to the dinner - was quite basic: some bread, some charcuterie, some granola and jams, and that's pretty much it (also some dry crumbly croissants). The room for two had only one chair. Terrace (both hotel and private room terrace) is a no-smoking area, which means one would need to go out to hotel entrance.
The view from the hotel terrace and rooms is amazing - great overlook of the mountains on the other side of the lake, especially at sunset. Close to the cogwheel train station, and not far from other places on Rigi. Lovely dinner experience - we were concerned about 4-course menu, but it was actually very balances in terms of food amount and timing, so it was a great. Comfy beds, decently sized room. Very welcoming and helpful staff.

SwitzerlandWe stayed during the week. The restaurant at the hotel was closed. We tried to book somewhere else, but everywhere else was also closed! It was mid-August, but restaurants all catered for day tourists and closed at 4pm! Only the one hotel by lift was open and only catered for their own hotel guests (and it wasn’t well rated anyway!) We ended up buying sausages before we got the cable car up and finding a bbq place, which was great as the weather was fantastic, but I did book hoping to go out for a birthday dinner. We had a standard room with an amazing lake view, but bathroom in our room was really tiny.
Wonderful views. Nice breakfast with view onto the lake.

United StatesThey don’t serve dinner at the hotel (or at least not the night we stayed). There is a restaurant in town, but it was closed. The only other place serving food for dinner was the fancy hotel by the train station. It was more expensive and more of a fine dining experience than we were prepared for.
Stunning views, clean, rustic-modern aesthetic with traditional Swiss flourishes, great breakfast, and a friendly owner

FranceThe ensuite was very small. A cupboard for hanging and keeping clothes would have been useful. Also, we hadn't realised that the restaurant seems to be open only at the weekends - Friday/Saturday? - and there are few options for eating in the village. Finally, it's not so easy if you don't speak German,
This was an excellent location for access to Rigi Kulm. Being at Rigi Kaltbad the hotel had excellent views over the Lake Lucerne and across to the Alps. The rooms were very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful - in particular the owner, Andre. The breakfasts are good, with plenty on offer.

NetherlandsThis is not so much the hotel itself as the vicinity. Due to the limited amount of trains running and limited opening times of nearby restaurants, one has to plan a little bit in advance. I couldn't just figure out where to go when I got hungry, as I prefer to do on holidays. A little planning goes a long way though, and I did not have to reserve a table anywhere during my stay.
Breakfast was just great. I enjoyed the coffee, bread and the croissants. On most days, a plate with some nice cheeses, meat and some nuts/dried fruit was presented. The staff was more than willing to help with anything, and was eager to share tips for things to do and restaurants to eat. The views from the room towards the lake are just stunning. Hiking starts right in front of the hotel. Especially nice was the (not included) dinner. I would definitely recommend this to anyone staying here.

SwitzerlandThere was no clear sign at the entrance door that we were in the right place. It seemed that it's a back door for staff but in fact it was the main entrance. The breakfast was good but we really missed the yoghurt, fruits and vegetables so we needed to buy some tomatoes, peppers, yoghurt and bananas from the local shop. We arrived on an unusually cold summer day and one of our rooms was really cold but they solved the problem quickly.
Perfectly clean rooms and showers, comfortable beds, very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing view from the rooms facing to the lake. There is a very steep hike from the cogwheel station to the hotel. It's a really good exercise but depending on your fitness level it maybe challenging especially with luggage.

United KingdomWas a little bit warm in the night since the day was very hot, ~28C, but that's not an issue for us as we could open a window. We would stay again.
We loved the location and how friendly and nice the hosts were! The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming, very cosy and rooms were very clean and cosy. Lovely wooden decor. We had a fantastic 4 course dinner in the hotel with the view to the mountains. Exceptional food and friendly service, great value for money! Would recommend to anyone.

SwitzerlandThis used to be an elite gourmet restaurant, so the expectations are somehow automatically higher than it would be in other place. It is very unfortunately no longer an elite gourmet restaurant (looks like the owner changed or at least the cook), but from the other side they are not much worse than may others around.
Place and house are excellent. The staff is very nice. Strategically excellent place to start many walks over Rigi.

IndiaWalk up from the cogwheel trains can be very tough for people who are not used to it, especially when you have luggage. its steep. so plan accordingly. with old people its difficult going up. The last train to that place to go up the mountain is 10 PM so if you miss that not sure if you will make it as its a car free zone.

United StatesNo tv but thats ok because if there was a tv we would miss out on the beautiful scenery. No AC but open both windows to get a cross breeze and that is sufficient.
Pascal our host was friendly, helpful and had a good sense of humor. He had some great suggestions as we didn’t know much about the area. We appreciated his advice very much!
