The hosts were very welcoming. The food was excellent. We had a large room and it was super clean.

While the hostel was clean and adequate for younger backpackers on a budget, one small polar fleece blanket would not have kept me warm at night. So glad I could upgrade.

Fortunately I was able to upgrade from hostel to hotel room which was not available on booking.com. The price for room and breakfast was very reasonable. I had a twin room to myself. It was cosy and clean with en-suite bathroom, great shower and plenty of hot water. The view from the window was lovely. Very good buffet breakfast. I also had dinner here, good wholesome food, freshly cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Check in process wasn't great!

Overall it was nice but the lady at the check-in desk was NOT happy that we didn't check in between 3:00-5:00. Our flight from London was delayed, and we told her that, but it didn't make any difference. Other than that, the place was nice for a quick stay in Kandersteg! JUST BE ON TIME! ;-)

You only get a blanket to sleep with and it was pretty cold.

I was staying in the dormitory on the back of the hotel, it’s nice enough, very clean and good bathroom facilities. The breakfast is excellent and the staff were nice, I could leave my bag at the property both before check in and after check out

The cranky man at the bar. I think he is the owner. He needs to take a happy pill. The lady was lovely.

The check in desk and grounds were cluttered and run down. The older stuff animals staring at us on the ledge above the headboard was a bit weird.

Location is the reason we were there. It was beautiful valley. Breakfast was amazing. Beds were comfortable. And the views were magnificent.

The youth hostel portion of the hotel was in the basement with only one small window. The basement was divided into small rooms with four beds in each. It felt very cramped. There was also a small window in each room that looked out into the hallway. That was nice but the hall light was triggered by motion so anytime someone used the washroom the light would turn on and shine into the bedroom making it difficult to sleep.

The property was clean and also had an awesome restaurant in it. There was also a nice little pond in the back with a little walking trail nearby.

Beautiful location (not in the centre with other hotels, so was much quieter, but its only 5-6 minutes further on), the whole village is the most beautiful Swiss village, room was spacious, gorgeous views, every night was quiet. Breakfast was good - lots of room, good choice. The lady host was lovely and kind. Her husband seemed fine, didn't see him much. Although there isn't air con, I found no need for it as Kandersteg is high up and cooler. Windows open was fine.

We came by train, so this hotel is a 20-minute walk from the train station; it felt like a much longer walk with bags. This walk also includes the gondola station. If you have a car, this location could be perfect, in my opinion.

The price is very reasonable. The restaurant menu has lots of good options. The rooms were clean and had good views.

Unwelcoming check-in, as we arrived after 18:00, since we had a long drive from home. They even told us that they couldn't guarantee the availability as we were "late" (around 19:00-19:30). After the unpleasant check-in, the personnel was nicer during our stay.

Great value for money, very good breakfast and nice dinner options in their restaurant. Room was very nice.

There was just a small negative thing. The host were talking quite negative about german politics and goverment to other guests. For me as a german this is not pleasant to hear that while you eat dinner.

Nice big room and a very good local breakfast. The hotel has a great location if you plan to visit the Oeschinensee!

I try to comunicate with them via booking informing I was going to arrive a bit late and got no reply, that is my only complain.

Kandersteg is an adorable city and the area where the hotel is situated is very nice. Super quiet, with montain views and a small river, some trails and stuff. We loved it. The breakfast was particulary nice, we were not expecting so many options, good coffee, nice tables and tasty food. We stayed in the shared hostel area in the basement, but it was also pretty ok. very silent, clean bathroom and comfortable bed, nothing luxurious of course, but enough for a good night sleep! They have a restaurant and a bar also :)

The wifi signal was weak, even in the reception area. Breakfast from 7.00 or 7.30 would have been better.

This informal hotel on the edge of Kandersteg in the high Alps is really good value. The single room had a balcony. Breakfast (served from 8.00am) had plenty of choice and excellent coffee. Half-board meals (not available on Wednesdays) were very good. Check in and out were easy: I arrived late and the room key was on the reception desk. I left early and a simple breakfast was left for me in the reception area. I will certainly come again.

Owner didn't reply about time to check-in, but accepted my request. Restaurant works till midnight(excluding wednesday as remember), so late check-in it is not a problem usually. But try to contact with stuff.
