Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Bright, airy rooms. Very clean. Public rooms clean. Quiet, even though we were sharing a hall with some kids sports team. Beautiful campus, I would absolutely come back. Appreciated the amenities, as my sister forgot towels.

CanadaNo AC but fortunately, it was not too hot when I was there. The showers have low water pressure but I suppose that's a "first world problem" and it's probably like that for environmental reasons or something.
The dorm that I was in looked like it was recently renovated and very clean. Was there breakfast available? I was not aware. King's College is very old so there's a cool old-timey feel to the place while the rooms inside are appropriately modern. The Number 1 bus nearby is convenient. Or, you can get your steps in and walk to get food.

CanadaThere is no AC and the fans available at the front desk were all gone when we requested one. Parking is around $18 per day but free between hrs of 4 pm-8am. Not much parking outside actual building where you are staying.
Property was clean and quiet. Good value for $ considering the prices of hotels in downtown Halifax.

CanadaUnisex public restrooms and washrooms feel inconvenienced. The room is small. Lack of drinking water facilities. The refrigerator in the room is very noisy. The corridor is very hot.
The location is very convenient, closed to downtown(waterfront).Route 1 bus station is in front of the building, which directly reaches out waterfront and Halifax shopping center. The price is affordable. There is a 24-hour front desk, they are all students, very friendly. Clearly marked and easy to find. Located on campus, very safe.

United KingdomThere was a mouse in my room one night which did not make me feel that things were very hygienic. I understand mice are fairly common but I do not expect to see them in a room I have paid for. I told the staff the next day and they didn't show any concern or apology. They just said I could move rooms but I didn't feel like packing my stuff up etc. Bathrooms were clean enough but also not super clean. E.g. the bins were taken out and some things cleaned but not everything - there was a decently sized dead bug on the floor next to the toilet that was not cleaned up during my entire stay (1 week). Nonetheless, the bathrooms were good enough. The location of the accommodation is convenient, safe, quiet, but be aware that there are no supermarkets or really any shops, cafes or food options under a 20 minute walk away so sometimes you can end up without easy access to food. I like walking so it was fine, and there is also a bus stop that goes straight downtown right outside the accommodation which was easy enough - but just something to bear in mind that you feel somewhat removed from the heart of the city and there's not much in the immediate vicinity.
Great value for money, spacious room, bed was comfy enough. Bathrooms were okay as far as shared bathrooms go - they had places to put your towel, toiletries and clothes which is often rare in a shared shower - it was nice to not have it getting wet all the time. Nice to have a mini fridge in the room and good desk and storage. Conveniently located for the Dalhousie University archives which was the reason for my visit. This accommodation was so affordable and a really great alternative to hostels which were all booked up and not cheaper - really appreciated having proper privacy and space to myself even if it was not the most luxurious place.
