The room design and the bathrooms were more dated then I expected. It looked like the hotel rooms were remodeled late 90's /early 00's. I has a very spacious King bed room, but there was a lot of unused space and the walls were fairly bare.

The Breakfast had a good variety to meet the wants of most people. I loved the location of the property! It was literally right across the street from the Clipper Terminal. On the property, there is a brunch Mexican restaurant, a spa with fantastic massages, a bike rental shop, and a Tea House. This is also an 8-10 minute walk to the Empress Hotel and the start of restaurants. In the other direction in an 8-10 minute walk is the Warf, so it is a great area.

The room upgrade that we were offered and confirmed was not honoured and my husband was doing the triathlon and asked for an early packed breakfast (which other places around the world have come through on) and he was told the kitchen was closed.

Storage space was somewhat limited, in particular no drawers and small wardrobe space. General room lighting was barely adequate for reading at night. Aircon control was difficult to access as it was down near floor level and tucked behind a corner table. (Had to unplug it to read and set temperature and fan speed). Another control on opposite wall was set to zero and appeared to be redundant. No catering facilities or even vending machines provided for getting a light meal early in the evening, which is what we would have preferred. Most establishments (not only this hotel) appear to shut down from mid to late afternoon in this area. Then there is only an option of eating at one of the larger eateries in town if you wish to take your main meal mid-evening.

The room was near to ground level, two short flights of steps up from the reception area, so very convenient for access, and near to the breakfast area. The general location is in a quiet area of Victoria, but near to the harbour and transportation facilities. Wi-Fi access was good and fairly quick, with no need for constant reconnection as in many other hotels. Self-serve buffet style breakfasts were adequate, and staff pleasant.

The mattress on the queen sofa bed was unbearable. The staff attempted to build up the hole in the middle of the bed with extra bedding but, it was still bad. I asked for them to bring the mattress from another room that was unoccupied and switch it out. They didn’t.

Rooms are a bit small. There needs to be a better explanation regarding the handicap floor/rooms. We understood the room to be more handicap accessible.
