Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canadaneeded some maintenance, the toilet seat was broken and falling off and the bathroom door would not stay shut. I could not adjust the temperature of the room, so it was very cold all night.

AustriaThe heating did not work properly the first day, I received an electric heater this solved the problem. The water from the shower was not getting really hot during the first 3 nights, finally it worked. The code input at the locks (main entrance and floor level) are not easily readable anymore (to be replaced).
The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, the location is very central I liked the location very much. The security level seems to be high.

United StatesThe luggage storage hours do not make sense. The check out is at 11 am and the bag storage starts at 12 pm. You had to stay somewhere for an hour before they will pick it up.
I liked the location and contactless check in.

New ZealandStairs - they were a real struggle for me and would put me off returning. The shower was awful - took forever to heat up and then nothing more then luke-warm. Difficult to pack bags in the space.
Great location - I'd already spent time in Toronto before my stay at Sonder, and much prefer this area of town. The rooms were compact but there was heaps of storage if you were someone who unpacks. Bed was really comfortable. Nice not having to worry about keys or cards for entry.

United KingdomThe hot water failed for the shower on our last evening, and on the day we checked out it was still barely warm. I didn't contact anyone about this because we were leaving imminently but was a bit disappointed to not have a nice hot shower before we moved on to our next destination. The bed was quite small, and we could hear noise from other rooms from the hallway.
Location was great, close to everything we needed and had a great view of the street and city life! The selection of tea and coffee was also superb.. The room was very small but it was cosy and having a smart tv was perfect for unwinding after a long day.

AustraliaThe room is on the 4th floor. There is no elevator. Access codes need to be entered at 3 doors to get in but codes are long and keypads are worn so you need many re-tries. The room is so tiny that the bed side table needs to be moved around regularly so you can move or get out. There are no staff or reception and the help phone number is in the US. If you don't have international dialing you have to wait for email response.
Great location. Well equipped room.

United StatesWould like to have bedside light switches so wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn off lights at night 3rd floor walkup with no available elevator - how do they get around handicap laws? Restaurant had an unfortunate plumbing problem and was closed for 2 days but plenty of other options nearby. Rates this time were much higher than normal for Toronto film festival
Very well designed room for being so small. No staff stays onsite but quick response to all inquiries and Sonder staff who came to assist were cheerful and helpful. Mine even checked me in early so I didnt have to store my bags. Hotel was quiet except for Sat. night rooftop party but even that ended by 11. Very convenient for Toronto International Film Festival- all within walking distance

United Statesdesign of the room was all about to satisfy the ego of the designer, not the comfort of the traveler. super slippery floor in the shower; knobs instead of hooks fit the design of the bathroom but not functionality. The cord of the coffee maker was too short. I had to move it to the bed side table to make a cup of coffee.

GermanyI got the wrong check-in information and had serious trouble entering the room. The hotel did apologize, but it was a very distressing experience for me and as an international traveler I could only solve it with the help of others lending me their phone.

MexicoThe AC had the label "filter change needed", there is absolutely no ventilation, so humidity is a big problem in summer. The towels do not dry well and the room starts smelling humid. For a 5 night stay, towel change could be a bonus. Price was high compared to a normal hotel where you get your room cleaned. The room was very small, but for only sleeping it's really all you need.
Check in was easy, the location is perfect, it is very private. I was on the 4th floor and it was noisy because of the roof garden.

CanadaSmall. Having to put in key code 3 times at the different doors. My main issue with sonder is the horrible UX with booking and stay. It looks great, but it's poorly designed UX-wise. Hire a good UX and or Product Designer to audit the experience. It would make all the difference.

CanadaIt was quite small for the price. Paid about $600 for 2 nights stay in what was essentially a pod. The bed was alright and we saw a few beetles outside and inside the room. There is no elevator either so going up and down stairs, especially with bags, didn’t feel great. The window is also frosted so you’ll get light in but no view. I wouldn’t stay here for longer than a night or two, especially if it’s cold out so staying inside is the best option - we went in the summer when it was great out so we were only there to sleep.
The location was perfect. It was right in the middle of everything. The TV was the perfect angle too.

United Statesrooms are extremely small. luckily we were able to store our luggage under the bed otherwise we couldn’t walk in the room. the bathroom door is a piece of plexiglass, and there is no venting in the bathroom or in our room at all. so, any noise created in the bathroom (or odors) will be heard/smelled in the rest of the room. the window also does not open, so it can get very musty inside the room. no front desk staff means that most requests take overnight to be fulfilled.
great location, easy check in and access to the room. relatively clean, quick responses to questions via the app. comfortable bed as well.
