Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNo exterior plug for charging car battery in overnight parking. Also, initially the location and the hotel itself seemed pretty sketchy. To balance that, the manager handled my displeasure with respect and some grace - thank you, Rick. Actual room was perfectly adequate, quiet and clean for a good night’s sleep.

United StatesIt's very outdated. They actually still use keys to get in the room. There was no blow dryer so I couldn't dry my hair. The toiletries were sub-par. I didn't use them. The tub needed a GOOD SCRUBBING.
It was close to our event. It had a kitchenette which was great. The bed was comfortable and clean.

ChinaThis time I had to take what was still available because of the late hour, and had zero choice. Indeed, this time the Alexandra seemed overpriced by 30% (high demand in the city this week?), and I was only able to secure a two bed suite - which I did not require. Previous guest had cooked garlic-rich foods and the scent permeated the room for my entire stay, unfortunately. Carpet (stained) and a/c unit (old and loud) probably need updating. Though absolutely a necessary destination for the "budget with some comfort" market, unfortunately the Alexandra's days may be numbered.
This was an emergency stay, as access to my prior arranged airbnb had fallen through. I thank booking and the Alexandra Hotel for still accepting my late reservation.A known quantity - I stayed here for two weeks 5 or 6 summers ago . Ideally, good access to Toronto's entertainment district. Staff works hard for people not always in ideal situations to meet their accomodatiin needs. Having a kitchen (and a TV) does help for long budget stays in downtown Toronto. Washroom was clean and well enough equipped.

United StatesThe sign in the office that said "not responsible if your car is broken into". Also, there is no free breakfast included. There were residents of the apartment congregating late at night outside near the door. We weren't bothered, but this might bother a single person traveling alone.
Great view and great location in town (walking distance to prime locations on King and Queen streets). Bathroom and bedding was clean. The office had 24/7 video surveillance of the parking lot and other areas.

CanadaThere was definitely some homeless people problems. But for the most part they kept to themselves.
Location is pretty good proximity to downtown. Lots to do and see if you don't mind walking. Or public transit is very close by.

CanadaThe momment I touched the vertical blind, a piece fell off. The battery of smoke alarm was beeping as it was low. I had to remove the battery so I wouldn’t have to listen to it all night. It was far too late to call the front desk but I’m sure they would have replaced it. The air conditioner is very loud so could not sleep and definitely wouldn’t have slept with it off as it was hot as hell.

CanadaMany transient women around building and seemingly living in building or using rooms.. if you don’t mind this you’re fine. They were not violent or bothersome, but some may feel uncomfortable. Place is right next to Alexandra Park, wouldn’t feel safe walking thru at night alone but there are road routes .
Great location, walking to Queen St West, view of city and CN Tower from my window (my side of building anyway.). Could walk farther to downtown, Spadina etc. Bed was comfy, room was clean. Place seems safe, stayed alone, no problems at night, parked in parking lot and no problems.

United KingdomRather old and tired looking and one of the mattresses was not very comfortable.
The hotel was ideally situated, easy to walk to places to eat and things to see in Toronto. Its a funny set up with a lot of rooms given over to re homing people I think. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. It was a bit noisy at times late at night in the corridor and there were a few folk hanging around outside but no one bothered us.

Located not far from the City centre...about 30 minutes walk, but around are quite poor area. That was experience to see all kinds of lives. Trams, cars, bikes, trolleys, homeless, graffiti...fair, bridge => WHAT A CITY! that was brief walk from the Residence to the City.

CanadaHotel, furniture and everything are pretty old; a bit different from what you'd usually find downtown, but if you can get a good rate and don't intend to stay a lot inside (or are just looking for a place to get a few hours of privacy), it's okay.
It was convenient to book and reach; room was spacious and all the basics (washroom, bed) were there. Location is excellent; close to Kensington, easy access to Dundas streetcar, bike share and such.

CanadaMixed long term low income tenants with a Hotel. I wasn’t expecting this but it turned out to be a non factor.
Price, location front desk staff and cleanliness. I had no night time noise which was probably a pleasant surprise. I stayed on the 6th floor which is The too floor. My room loomed over a city park.

United StatesNext to a park, which meant a lot of homeless and addicted people wandering around - not a surprise in a big city. A bit farther away from city center than the more expensive hotels - again, not a surprise.
