Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesMy wife complained a bit about the stairs to the upper European rooms. (The rooms were still good but small.). European seemed to mean the the sink was outside the bathroom.
The breakfast was nice, we had it one day. Staff was great with communication and suggesting routes to walk. I ended up booking two reservations from two different sites and they were different room types. The day before the team called me to discuss my options if I didn't want to change rooms. We liked sitting out on the patio and also enjoying the complementary coffee and tea. It was hot and the AC worked fairly fast.

United StatesWe greatly enjoyed our 4-day visit to Quebec. The hotel was one of the highlights. First, the location in haute-ville, close to the commercial districts but on a quiet street, was the perfect place for exploring. We arrived by train, walked from the train station, and did not need a vehicle or taxi during our stay. We explored all the neighborhoods that we wanted to on foot, including the old city (both high and low neighborhoods), the Citadelle and Plains of Abraham, Saint-Roch, Saint-Jean-Baptiste. We were a short walk to the cathedral for Sunday mass. We went running in the park twice. The hotel service was outstanding. We were welcomed every time we entered or departed. We received wonderful recommendations for meals, including making a reservation on a busy Friday night. We enjoyed coffee each morning and a drink one evening. The staff was so very pleasant, each and every one. Our room was clean and well apportioned. The bathroom is small, as expected, with an excellent shower. The air conditioning was very welcome, as it was warm during our visit in late May. Our window faced the Parc d’Esplanade, and we could hear the occasional clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages. We would certainly stay here again on a return visit.

United StatesNothing comes to mind.
The location of this hotel is excellent, within walking distance to all the sites of Quebec City, and on a quiet street. Very friendly staff, the desk clerk even booked a tour for us within minutes of our arrival, and all of them were quick to take care of any needs we had or answer questions. This is a great hotel for couples, it's nice to have a quiet spot for morning coffee before a day out, or an evening drink after arriving back at the hotel.

United StatesSweet boutique hotel in a perfect location! We were able to park on arrival- and then walked everywhere for the next 3 days. Older but well kept property. There is no elevator- so request a lower level room if stairs are difficult for you. All the staff were friendly & helpful - even got us dinner reservations in hard to get into restaurants! Highly recommend.

United StatesNext time I'll pay for a larger room and bed, although what we got was adequate for the three nights we stayed.
Excellent location just inside the walls of Vieux-Quebec, especially good location for the Winter Carnival. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Our room and bed were small, it was somewhat expected for an older hotel. Apparently larger rooms with larger beds are available at additional cost, we'll probably get a larger room next time. The bed did have 4 large comfortable pillows. Large wardrobe to put your coats and things. Small but adequately sized breakfast room. We were told that it was a fixed price for breakfast, but you are billed for what you order off of the menu provided. The food was good and nicely prepared, the staff is very friendly. Very convenient spot in front of the hotel to drop-off and load your luggage. The hotel provides an electronic pass card for the underground parking garage below the park across the street (5 min. walk). The very reasonable parking fee of 22 CAD per day is added to your hotel bill. The hotel also provided free bus passes to get around the city.

United StatesThe property consists of two historic carriage houses and does not have an elevator. This was noted at booking. Our junior suite was on the third floor. While we did not mind this, some guests might find this a problem. (A lower floor can be requested with one's reservation).
We stayed for four days in mid-January. The hotel is located just inside the city wall making exploring the old town, port area and St Jean Baptiste neighborhood all just walks. The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful. We encountered weather and airline travel problems both coming into and leaving Quebec City, which delayed our arrival and departure by a day in each direction. The staff generously accommodated the change in our reservation and a late checkout time, helped with transportation, and in holding our baggage. The staff also provided excellent restaurant recommendations and other helpful tips on sites in town as well as insights into the local Quebecois culture.
