The staff were kind enough to keep my luggage in their storage room before check in time on day of my arrival & after check out time on day of my return. This was my first time staying at a hostel & M Hotel definitely raised the bar for future hostels. It’s in a GREAT location; not in the centre of tourist areas but incredibly close to it. I didn’t even explore the hotel’s rooftop nor jacuzzi due to being overly occupied but the bar downstairs / cafe in main lobby were GREAT. There is an isolated hall with benches to do work on laptop/whatever (there’s WiFi throughout the hotel) and laundry on site, I mean what’s not to love?! I had an amazing experience and definitely recommend it to everyone! Also the people I met staying at the hostel + surrounding hostel were great! 😊

Please make sure that tap water is drinkable. I have been experiencing severe stomach pain from the day after I arrived. I have been drinking tap water throughout my stay. I have been staying at M Hotel since 2014 but never drank tap water there. The air conditioning in the room is too loud and prevents sleeping at night if your bed is nearby

Although not bad, the "beds" for the hostel rooms were not as comfortable. And, although the hotel is fairly close to Old Montreal, the local homeless and drug users on Saint Catherine Street kill the vibe.

I love the friendly and helpful staff. They greet you with warm smiles and the willingness to answer questions. I also like the facilities available. Everything is clean and accomedating; it's the first hostel that felt like a hotel.

What are those tiny tea cups doing in a place for adults? Please get coffee cups big enough for adults! I saw some can openers fit for museums. Quite odd to see people struggling with them.There was only one red manual opener good enough. How about a few state of the art openers for the best hostel in town? I would prefer a dishwasher to the current system. Multiple hands at the pantry in a world rising through the ashes of social distancing leaves a lot to be desired.

Amazing cleanliness for a hostel with bunk beds offering the comfort of queen size beds with enough privacy in a dorm setting to boot! Cool runnings!Would love to be back there again sooner or later.

If I am being picky, there could have been more common toilets on my floor. Hard to find negatives, though!

From when I walked in to when I left, I enjoyed my stay there. The hostel was in a nice location, right on the Village and easy to get to the subway, bus stops, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. I stayed in a 12-person dorm and was worried it would be too crowded, but it's a well utilized setup where you only really see 4-6 beds at a time. Privacy curtains and lots of shelf space make it easy to bunker up.

Although the hostel is located in downtown Montreal and within a 5-10 minute walk to the metro/subway, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy with a lot of homeless people. It is however, a convenient location with lots of cafes and restaurants but as a woman, I am not sure I would feel safe walking by myself at night. No issues with safety during the day! The person who checked us in was friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to check in early which was very kind of him. The toiletries provided were a bit skimpy. Each person was given a bag containing a bath and hand towel, a very small bar of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo. This would be sufficient if you’re staying at the hostel but if you book the more expensive private suite, more toiletries should be made available. The room also did not come with a hair dryer, you had to borrow one at the reception. I can understand how hair dryer theft may be prevalent in the hostel, but it should be included in the private suites. Hotel parking is very limited so we had to park at another garage about an 8 minute walk from the hotel. This is not a problem but the hotel failed to inform us that we needed to pay for our parking with a credit before exiting the garage because the entry door is only accessible for those who pay in advance with a credit card. Many of us found ourselves standing anxiously in front of the garage bay doors, waiting for a car to go in or out because this was the only way we could get back into the garage. But on the brighter side, it was a pretty secure place to park your car overnight for a few days.

We reserved the double king private suite with a kitchenette. It was very spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. The kitchenette is equipped with almost everything that you need except a proper coffee maker. They had a pod coffee machine but only provided espresso/cappuccino pods that required milk in order for it to work. Unfortunately, they didn’t leave any milk in the fridge. We had to purchase coffee every morning. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. The private suites are located in a quiet, second building with easy access to a lovely rooftop deck/patio with hot tubs. The M Montreal is a very clean hostel/hotel with lots of amenities on site; but it is on the pricey side. It could be an amazing destination if they could tweak a few things.

Jaccuzi's aren't available some mornings due to cleaning, also would be good if they can include mini locks and soap, shampoo for hostels. Paid breakfast at cafeteria isn't the healthiest with tons of sugar :)

Property can be loud at times after 11pm plus the location is full of homeless and drug addicts. But it’s close to berri uqam and pretty much on Sainte Catherine.
