Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel requested an additional form to be sent to confirm the booking, which was a pain as we didn't have easy access to a printer and it was not editable. Lots of signs and rules about towel deposits, seems like they have had a lot of towel thieves previously.
Great location close to the ferry and a short walk to the split. Very comfy bed! Coffee available in the morning and water available for free. Provided specific towels for use on the beach which was great. Room a bit tired but had everything you need.

Mexico- other patrons banged on the door at about 10pm, then we're incredibly loud before 6am (not really hotel's fault) - coffee was rarely available. Generally made after 8:30am and only available until 10:30/11am iirc.
- extremely comfortable bed - air con - hot water

United StatesThere is no kitchen, but there is a fridge in the room, microwave and toaster in the lobby. Water pressure was not the best and one of the bathroom showers trickled (the other one was better). Could use a new shower head. Would be nice if there were bikes available to use! Front door slams at night, would recommend installing a stopper.
Stayed in the dorm/hostel room. It appears to be brand new (as of August 2024). The beds are extremely comfortable (not just for a hostel but in general) and there are curtains around each bed, which sold it for me! No kitchen, but fridge in the room, microwave and toaster in the lobby. Aircon is only on 7pm to 10am. Each bunk has an outlet, light, and a safe box. The sheets and pillows are cozy. The room gets cold at night but the front desk has blankets available. I also noticed my bed didn't have a board underneath so after alerting the desk about it, they got right on it. The staff is very nice and happy to help. The room is exceptionally clean. Prime location. It is also quiet, tucked away from the main street and I slept like a baby. Would stay here again!

IsraelWe could hear all the noise from the street, which was a bit annoying in the morning, even thought we had ear plugs. The hotel requested for a form to fill and send back before arriving, in order to complete the reservation, which was a bit inconvenient.
The bed was really large and the AC worked well, which is super needed in Caye Caulker. The room was clean. The location is really good, the island is not so big so you can walk from the hotel to most of the attractions, and from and to the ferry as well.

United KingdomI had to close the toilet door as there was a bad smell that came through to the bedroom which was overpowering through the night. I had to make sure the fan was on to get rid of the smell. The water downstairs would have been better if it was chilled and not at an ambient temperature.
The staff were really friendly to me, and the hotel itself was really clean. The bed was very comfy, and I felt safe when in the hotel.

United KingdomAfter booking I received a form to complete, with my credit card details etc... but it was a photo (jpg) file not a pdf or word template so I couldn't easily fill it out on my phone and was already traveling at the time. Luckily I was able to physically go to pay, to protect my booking, as the wording of the email saying payment had to be taken within 24h of receipt would have worried me otherwise - if the bill needs paying in advance, why not have Booking.com take payment at the time of reservation? On arrival, there was also the matter of having to leave credit card details or a 100usd refundable security deposit, which (although not uncommon in much nicer hotels in the island than this one) was a surprise to me in this one - had I known in advance I would have had them ready but my items of value were buried within my bag for safekeeping. It was only a little bit of a hassle but I didn't like it, and think here are better ways to deal with both these elements of the booking. Also, not a complaint, but worth noting for future guests that the bathroom tap/faucet does not turn, it operates on a pivot... I've never seen one like that before and it confused me for far longer that I'm proud of! :D
It's definitely not a new hotel - the rooms & ñobby have a quite dated appearance - but my room was spotlessly clean and towels, sheets etc were good quality & seemed quite new . Coffee & tea in the morning, and drinking water refills at any time, were a nice touch. Although I had been expecting to leave my bags with them for safe-keeping until my room was ready, they were able to give me my room early instead which was a nice surprise - I wouldn't have liked to leave them in a heap.under the stairs with other guests' bags (a group arrived right before me and ditched their stuff there) so it was especially nice to not have to. I also liked the security measure of having a coded entry door at night, and the hotel's proximity to a good supermarket & local places to eat.
