Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SurinameThe bathroom had mould, AC made a lot of noice when on. Could give thicker blankets to sleep. I asked but it was indicated that they do not provide such. Although, right in front of me guests came to ask for blanket. Could have been the language barrier.
Spacious rooms and helpfull staff.

GermanyPleasant and comfortable hotel, very helpful staff, but the location is less than ideal: it's a bit distant from the historic center and attractions, but taxis (Uber) are readily and rapidly available - I would certainly book again.

BelgiumWe staid on the first floor as we traveled with a pet. Our rooms were not cleaned automatically during the day, which is a problem for a 4 star hotel. Also, we would have liked to know about rules about the pet before arriving as well as rules about not being allowed to have visitors in our room. Also the key cards were not working very well, they were easily demagnetized.
The breakfast was excellent. The neighbourhood is dangerous on one side, according to locals. I had left something in the fridge and it was kept for me until our second stay.

SurinameThe Hotel seems to be stuck in the 80's with interior, furnishing and such. Furthermore the airco in the room made so much noise we could not sleep. Also the minifridge made a lot of noise everythime it kicked in again. The shower knobs fell of when turning it on. We left for another hotel after spending only one night.

United StatesThe neighborhood was not safe. The location is not for a foreign tourist. The hotel has old design and did not have toiletries (excepts soap) and gym. This hotel is not a good option for a female traveler.
The breakfast was good. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean.

SurinameOne of the staff members at the front desk could not speak English. For such a big city and such a good Hotel one would expect that the staff at the front desk would be able to speak English. Other than that, it was great.
The room was clean, had a clean smell and breakfast was great.

United Statesthere are many. was placed next to a water leak in the hall were the guys worked early morning till 5:00 banging and tearing apart. the water is leaking than don’t put your guest on the same floor. yes the rooms are big but so what. you just stay to sleep. only mattress no box spring so hard and close to the floor. all the buttons are located between the beds on the bed table. you wouldn’t know they were there. you turn av on but the lights don’t go on. ac off light go on. padded toilet seat. horrible. the plastic is worse than a regular toilet seat. they had a bidet but what’s good to have it it doesn’t spray?! it’s run down. the food was ok for breakfast. just an ok place. I left a day early. I had screaming children next to me in 506 that ran up and down the halls. child in the floor upstairs that ran not stop pounding the floor with toys. Omg just shoot me. Belem was dirty, poor and nothing to come to. their airport is even worse and immigration is a joke. only 2 sometimes 3 people working it with many planes coming in. I don’t know why you would come here to be honest.
although the rooms are big that’s the only thing I can say

PortugalThe room was old fashioned and the air conditioner is noisy and primitive with only on/off switches. A lot of things in the bathroom need to be repaired. The shower was precisely above a flexible drain, which was at least unpleasant. The breakfast was of very low quality. Only a few fruits and juices were ok. It is difficult to understand how local products as pupunha, manioc, açai are not used by the hotel that selects standard fast food and cookies with plenty of fat and sugar. The location is too bad. The front street is plenty of noisy and polluting buses.
The staff was surprisingly nice in view of previous evaluations.

BrazilIf there is an emergency and you need the help of an employee, the answer would be that there is no employee working at the hotel at this time 10:40 PM and you, the customer, solve your problem yourself because the company does not value your stay again. I tried to argue that I'm a long-time customer but the answer was no and my need was not met, disappointed, now and try to find a new place that appreciates my stay and wants me as a client again because Marcos, Hotel Sagres didn't respect me as an old customer, imagine you who will be a new customer…
I like this hotel, I have been a client for several years but today I am unfortunately disappointed, I requested an extra pillow Apt 712, that I always make during my stays and I have always been served, but today in the case, now that I am still at the hotel, I requested the extra pillow and the receptionist Marcos from the front desk denied me saying that it was already late at 10:40 PM and that there was no hotel employee to answer my request. No sense getting this response from such a large Hotel, I'm disappointed and won't recommend it again.
