The court yard uses hard white light but has great opportunity for indirect lighting to make it really charming. The bathrooms were clean but are a little outdated. The "pool" was old and dirty and should be replaced with a jacuzzi. Overall, the place could do with an upgrade

We found the Pousada to be in a convenient location on the edge of the old part of the town near to the bus station.

room was rather small; all rooms face the courtyard where the breakfast area is also located therefore it is quite loud when breakfast starts in the morning (if you want to sleep in); the window facing the courtyard has no glass (probably normal for the area); no bed lights

host was nice and engaged; clean room; nice breakfast with good selection; good location between historic center and bus terminal; nice service of afternoon coffee and cakes for free

The rooms were perhaps a fraction on the small side but that's clutching at straws as they still represented excellent value for money.

Pousada Marendaz surpassed all of our expectations in every way, which for a group of 8 aged 10-80 is some achievement. The rooms were comfortable with extra attractive seating areas outside. The breakfast was excellent and the location could hardly have been better being right next to the old town. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, going above and beyond in helping to organise additional activities, which all proved to be of an excellent standard. Value for money was absolutely top notch. We could not have been happier.

The room could use a bedside lamp, and since it's right next to the communal area where breakfast is had, the mornings are a bit noisy.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming here. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The air conditioning works great which is essential in the heat. There is hot water in the shower. The breakfast has lots of options, you can have scrambled eggs, different breads toasted, a selection of cakes which varied daily, different fruits, yoghurts, juices, some cold sliced meats like ham and cheese. Paraty is very small and the pousada is like a 2 min walk to the old town, right beside some shops. The wifi works well

TV is not working well (it tuned in only one channel, and poorly tuned another one), remote control was defective (but staff changed it promptly, two times); but what bothers us most was lack of WiFi signal inside the room - there's free WiFi available in the property, but the signal was not strong enough to get to the room we stayed.

Walk distance from city centre, has a supermarket in the corner of the street, the photos matched perfectly with the outside of the rooms. Breakfast was very good. Hotel had a pool, but I thought it was really small - we didn't use it, anyway. Room had no windows, but air conditioning was very effective.

We were a group of 3 friends travelling on a hiking excursion. Staff was very nice and the rooms were comfortable for spending the night.between hikes. Breakfast is very good and car parking was available.
