We stayed 10 nights, The location on the water front and Leo the gentleman managing the place was the most kind, knowledgeable and efficient manager I've ever seen, a credit to this place. Room 2 was perfect right on the water front with its own balcony. Swimming with turtles everyday. The food was excellent and very large portions. I will definitely be back. Thank you all.

The bed was super comfortable and the room has everything one needs. But who wants to be in a room when the outdoor space is beautiful and that’s where we were when we were not sleeping. Leo spoke excellent English and welcomed us with warmth and friendliness. The breakfasts were delicious and had a warm homemade cake to accompany the rest of the spread. The boat dropped us off on the dock of the hotel. Very good restaurants and beaches in walking distance. Sit in the sun or under the umbrella of a large tree and enjoy the beauty of this green island. We were lucky to see the large turtle, Josefina, swimming among fishes the near the hotel dock. The sunsets were spectacular and evenings were charming to sit outside. The staff also made tasty Cachacas.

Nothing - had the best time

Incredible location on the waterfront with so much sea life off the dock. Short walk to great beaches. Staff all love the nature around, we stayed 3 days and swam with turtles every day! Leo was a great host, always on hand to improve our experience, whether spotting turtles or bringing out tasty caipirinhas (and more)!

Nothing I didn't like. Our double room was quite small so not much room for large cases but it didn't really bother us and you are literally steps to the sea.

We loved Mar da lua and it was one of the highlights of our holiday in Brazil- it is a little bit of paradise. Staff were great and specially brought in vegan food to cater for my daughter. We did the boat trip which I would highly recommend. There are also paddleboards available which we enjoyed. Stayed for 3 nights but would have liked to stay longer. There is a boat from Angra dos Reis that drops you right at the Mar da Lua pier too.

The staff is rather sour. We speak very little Portuguese but they could offer a smile or a helpful attitude. They really do not want you to order any drinks or food because it mean work…

Fantastic sun-deck and a great view of the ocean from our bed. Nice and friendly manager. Fresh breakfast with plenty of local fruit.

Set right on the waters edge, you wake up to sound of the ocean and a beautiful view each day. The beds are super comfy. Ilha Grande is a tropical paradise.

The location is fantastic. Waking up directly at the water really makes you feel like you are in paradise. Adolfo‘s positive and calm energy is welcoming and makes you feel like home. He arranged a very good boat trip for us and provided really good suggestions and inputs for us of what to do on the island.

The rooms aren't luxurious but everything works well.

Excellent place to stay with very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful beaches within walking distance and the boats trips available take you to the major beaches on the island like Lopes Mendes. A great place to relax and a bonus is the turtle that swims regularly by the decking! Straight forward to get to with the ferry from Angra dos Reis.

What a fantastic place, peaceful and basic. Great to get away from life for a while. The owner is a great guy, super friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and we spent all our time enjoying the island and the resorts outside terrace, lounges and hammocks.

The afternoon staff was really impolite and the food was expensive.

We had a very nice stay, breakfast was really good and this is an amazing location. We spent a lot of time on the deck and the snorkling just outside is very nice.

The hosts were incredibly helpful and nice. They helped us book a boat trip, suggested great local things to eat and hiking trails to take to explore the island. The location is beautiful,peaceful and safe and a great combination of both jungle and beach. There are plenty of sunbeds, great views, chill music, a very cute cat named Lua and an overall idyllic atmosphere.
