Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEverything was great I will however mention I thought the hotel wrist band was a little weird and tacky. I don’t want people on the outside knowing where I’m staying and it looks lame with my outfits wearing a blue wrist band lol no biggie though! A card is more simple I can keep in my wallet.
Wow the room and view was amazing 😍🤍 the gym was great the pool area was lovely and breakfast was the cherry on top 10/10 !! everything about this hotel was perfect. The staff were lovely too ✨ highly recommend ❤️

United KingdomThe only slight problem with the rooms was quickly fixed. The coffee machine had obviously not been cleaned on a long time - it was musty and a little moldy inside. However, upon reporting this it was not just cleaned, it was replaced with a brand new machine. (I wonder if our early checkin led to a slightly more rushed cleaning.) I mention this above as well because if there is an issue - and these things happen - then the way it is addressed can become a positive. I would say that dinner could be improved. We were half board and there is a more limited buffet choice. It's nice enough but it was more "eat and leave" than enjoy a meal. Everything in the hotel says 5star except that dinner. There is an a la carte in the top floor which is beautiful. It was not included in our half board stay but maybe it is in the all inclusive. That would address this issue if so.
We had a great 5 day stay here. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to check in 5 hours early due to awkward UK flight times. Your first impression of the hotel is it's imposing size over the Sao Conrado beach, and as I came in, I felt like I was arriving at a hotel that was a level up from our norm. Upon seeing the room we had booked (Junior suite on 27th floor), the staff said "wait til you see the view"... And it did not disappoint. It was breathtaking. I have attached a picture of our room view to the review. The suite was huge and nicely furnished. Some nice touches like giving us some welcome cake. Slight issue with the coffee machine that I have mentioned below but it was quickly dealt with. The hotel facilities are beautiful and well kept - it was not busy when we visited and seemed to be more in use as a business hotel in the winter. This meant it was nice and quiet. Breakfast was hot and fresh with lots of options, both continental and cooked. The usual hotel omelette stations and breakfast options. It cost us just a few pounds to get an uber to ipanema, a little more to copacabana. Overall though the location is pretty good. We got a much nicer hotel for the same price than you would a few miles up the road because it is Sao Conrado and not Copacabana. Overall we loved our stay here. Rio has so much to offer and with a little caution in some areas, we felt quite safe. Whenever we get back, we will be looking at hotel nacional first for accommodation! Thanks.

ArgentinaThe staff was friendly, however very slow. They don't speak a lot of English and it make the communication bad. Our bedsheets had some small holes and they didn't give us hand towels until we asked for them. There was no coffee machine in the room unless you asked for it (and it took a lot of time to bring one) as well as a hairdryer. It is defenetly not a 5 star hotel. I would give a solid 4 stars.
The bed was very comfortable and the view was very nice. The buffet was varied and the gym is pretty good.

NetherlandsA little dated rooms, when you get higher rooms hot water takes a long time. They could make better use of the garden 1 floor up from the swimming pool area. Bread selection very limited and soft (real freshly baked French Baquette bread people!) Check in and out were very busy so high waiting times.
Good value for a 5 star hotel in Rìo compared to some other 5 star or some of the better 4 star hotels in Rìo. Not perfect, but relatively good value . Great views if you have Ocean front view room, unfortunately no balconies though: famous architects, like Niemeyer in this case (I love his work) are sometimes more concerned with the facade optics then the usability of the design. Although not a famous location it is not too far from many of the things in Rìo. Mall nearby.

United KingdomFor a 5 star hotel they don’t have door men/porters at the entrance to greet customers & help with bags at arrival. We arrived at the hotel at 7pm via taxi and there was only 3 security men who were chatting away and stared at our faces & didn’t help us with our bags (I’m used to the European way of hospitality so they help you take your bags in etc) once we got inside to the reception then someone took our bags. We didn’t get a complete introduction of the hotel so we had to figure it out for ourselves including finding where the lifts were etc. In the rooms they don’t provide slippers or robes which would have been really useful. The pool area doesn’t get a lot of sun because of how the building’s structured so you have to sun bathe at the top floor of the pool area The security at night bother you about wearing your hotel bracelet but for tourists - navigating through Rio with a bracelet that says exactly where your staying doesn’t sound exactly safe. I preferred not wearing mine depending on what areas we visited and to avoid being extorted with tourist prices (The bracelet is bright blue and shows the hotel name)
I loved how spacious the room was - in comparison to a lot of the other hotels in Rio it was absolutely amazing I have to say. I LOVED the view - wow it was lush. A true experience.
