Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

Costa RicaIt wasn't really the hostel's fault but I had to change to a private room after first night, I got the top bunk and it was so high for me I hurt my feet. Decoration in the shared bedroom they're windowless boxes resembling hospital's rooms. I think there was mold in the new room due to no ventilation and humidity. Kitchen stairs' design wasn't safe. Kitchen utensils were in bad state and uncleaned.
Location (safe and nice area) and the staff is friendly to be Rio. Free beach chair and umbrella for one day. Having a microwave.

United StatesThe beds are literally like a gymnastics mat. They are not comfortable and to make matters worse, the pillows are also this gymnastics mat material. There was one bed in my dorm room that was a regular fabric soft mattress. If they were to upgrade all of the mattresses and pillows to this softer more regular mattress this hostel would be alot alot better. The drinks downstairs are very weak and not worth the money and charging R$7.70 Reais for a large water bottle is taking advantage of foreigners. Drinks on their new bar rooftop are a bit stronger.
The easiness to make friends here is exceptional. You can make friends within your first 10 minutes in this hostel and all go together to the beach. That’s pretty awesome. The location is great, safe, and a block from one of the best beaches in Rio. They have their own kiosk on the beach that is half off umbrellas and chairs for guests, as well as one time being free. They are located in area filled with amazing restaurants all around.

IrelandThere is only 1 bathroom in a dorm of 12 people which isn’t really a big problem and a reality of shared rooms, but there is often people’s towels and clothes in the bathroom but they are cleaned regularly. The beds are not the most comfortable things, they are lined with plastic, obviously for sanity reasons but it’s just never gonna be the most comfortable to sleep on plastic even through a sheet.
The location of the hostel is amazing, the beach and all amenities close by. The energy and vibes of the people from all walks of life staying at the hostel were perfect. The hostel partners with a beach stand (Barraca) that allows people staying at the hostel to have a chair and umbrella on the beach which adds a level of comfort and security to going to the beach.

The location is one of the best thing, just a block away from the beach. The hostel is nice, it's smaller than I expected, but stayed there for one night so it was good. The bedroom that I stayed was small but comfy. The beds are covered with a curtain, so it's good too. The noise of the streets and the reception doesn't get to the rooms, so you will sleep very well. The staff is really really cool also, and you will meet so nice people from around the world :D

This hostel is amazing!! Highly highly recommend if you’re travelling alone. The most sociable hostel I’ve been to. The bar is great, lots of solo travellers and there’s stuff happening every day. All the staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel so welcome immediately. The rooms I stayed in were all quiet despite it being v lively/noisy outside. The beds are ok and the curtain helps. Area v safe feeling and beach just a block away

The staff of the Hostel was incredible! So friendly and helpful when you requested certain things or when you were experiencing problems. The location is also super convenient right next to the beach so it's easy to go for a swim or chill there all day. The bar of the hostel is also great to meet new people and other travellers from all around.

Outstanding staff, helpful, knowledgeable, willing to share their ideas on Ipanema and Rio, upbeat attitude, and very accommodating. Nice attached bar and sidewalk terrace for mornings and evenings. Good bathroom and shower in the room.

They have a rooftop but if it’s rainy you can’t really be there and they have a bar, which is nice but if you only want to relax it’s a little bit uncomfortable because the mood is more of a party mood. Which isn’t really a bad thing if you want to drink something and meet the other guests. But for me sometimes you just want to maybe watch something or just relax a little bit.
It was near the beach and they give you one day of free use of a umbrella and chair. They also have a free caipirinha waiting for you for the first day.
