The 8 bed dorm was big and spacious. The courtyard was a nice area to socialise and the location was perfect. It felt really safe and there was lots to do nearby.

Aurora is a great place to stay. Fantastic staff who are happy to help with everything and speak English. Great chill out space. One of best hostels I have stayed in. The more expensive rooms are worth paying for, only a few reals more. Very clean and kitchen too

We did not feel particularly safe because the front door was never properly secured and it was not always monitored. For example, coming home at 2am we pushed the front door open and walked in without anyone noticing.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good for restaurants and getting Ubers to explore the city. Good value for money given the other options in Rio. Communal areas were always busy which gave a good vibe.

The six bed (2 triple bunks) was a bit cramped.

The most amazing hostel I‘ve ever stayed in!! The staff is the best thing about the hostel they‘re all so kind and really try to help you with everything!! 24h reception so there is always someone. The hostel is full of art, plants and AC everywhere, it makes everything so comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the beds are comfortable but not like home.. that’s just normal for a hostel. Big kitchen but bring/buy oil and spices for cooking. Because off the staff‘s Sympathie everyone in the hostel is just very nice and it’s really easy to meet new people!! There is a supermarket, pharmacy, bus station and lots of nice restaurants just 5mins walk away. The neighborhood is safe. I really enjoyed staying there!! Thank you again to the staff!! You all are just so amazing ❤️

The first thing you actually book in a hostel is a bed and a pillow. Both were terrible (dormitory room). Unfortunately not worth the quite high value for a hostel in Brazil.

Extremely friendly staff (thanks Lore for all the tips) and guests in a very good structure (common spaces, lobby bar and kitchen). Strategic location in Rio.

This is a very good hostel, it's comfortable and clean, located in a safe area full of shops, supermarkets and cafes. I liked the fact that you can both relax and socialize, and the girls from the staff are absolutely lovely, with a special mention for Jwein who was a very pleasant company. Big kitchen and very good Brazilian music too!

Some of the staffs aren’t very kind. The guy that checked me in, didn’t show me anything, looked so annoyed, well this can happen. Some girls working there looked a bit scary.

The dorms had big lockers and curtains. Enough outside area if you want to do exercise in the morning. I didn’t had breakfast included in my booking, but they gave me free coffee… Nice place to meet people. They first put me in a dorm without windows very stinky but they changed me to a one with windows after I told them I couldn’t sleep in a room like this. Thanks 🙏

Room I stayed in needs drastic improvement. Very, very, very noisy beds. Stairs were almost falling apart (like quite literally since I fell during the first night when going down because of them). For someone who can’t sleep with noise the beds were the worst part of the stay for me. One person moves, everyone wakes up. One person snore, you will hear it even with earplugs. No windows so it quite literally felt the inside of a prison cell and amplified snoring from nearby beds (if you have sensitivity to noise I would suggest looking someplace else.) Prices for stuff were very high for a hostel, be prepared to pay 15 bucks for any beer and you’re not allowed to bring beer from the outside, so you’re basically paying double market value for absolutely no reason. Although that’s normal practice in hotels, this is the first hostel I see doing it. Maybe it’s a Rio thing. It wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t nice either. Okay is the word I would use. I might come back if I didn’t have another place to stay, but I can’t say I would recommend it to a friend.

Location was the best part, right in the heart of zona sul. Staff was very nice and chill, they made our stay better. it’s very big so lots of different areas to chill. Lots of bathrooms, and a private one on the first floor, which definitely helped. Tv room was great and kitchen had a lot of cooking supplies. Manager was very respectful and prompt with our needs and complaints, very professional.
